Got a buddy that is not happy with his factory AR10 16" barrel. Gun has upgrades, SWS and gasblock upgrade, but accuracy is inconsistent. Just won't come together.

What are the options as far as replacement? Send to smith, order and install, ???.

Not played with AR10 barrel swaps to date.

I run a AR10T that is cut by GA to 20" that flat shoots. (With or without a suppressor).

His 16" AR10 won't hold well at all. We run 168gr FGMM and occasionally 175gr FGMM. If I am 1.25MOA he is 4.5" MOA if you cross your fingers.

Did it suddenly get like this or has it always been that way? If always he should send it in to armalite as something is wrong with it, if it suddenly became that way maybe he buggered something working on it and he doesn't know it.

I guess it could be shot out too but you'd have to shoot the shit out of it to get there.

If he just wants a new barrel then Noveske is probably best. Rainier offers a few armalite 308 barrels as well.

    Re: AR10 Barrel Options

Noveske makes an Armalite styled barrel & Rainier also makes a Armalite styled barrel or you go the custom route as I am by getting a Krieger barrel but plan on waiting 5 months plus .

the original barrel in my AR10T was a piece of crap, 1-2 min with anything I fed it, replaced it with a Novesky 21" and PWS brake and now if it doesn't shoot under MOA it's my fault.

Right now Rainier has 16" Ultra Match barrels in the Armalite pattern for a good price.

Shilen blanks finished by White Oak Arms. I just got one, but still need an upper to build it.

Same barrel and brake that I put on my AR10A4 and have had the same results. It even shoots great with so-so ammo.
