I decided that I need an AR10 but I want a switch barrel in 7,62 and .260 Rem.
I want i fairly light and I have some ideas around accuracy that I wanted to try out.
So here is my build in pictures.
I assume a few of you likes to see machining pictures.

So here we start with a billet in the lathe.

After turning inside of the action and the thread, there is plenty of work on the outside.

I have two JP barrels, and lower will be the HK417 lower we produced as an upgrade kit for HK417.
It takes SR25 style mags.

With a blackingen lamp parts are filed together for a perfect fit.
Yes it's old school but I like it for prototyping.
We NEVER use file for anything in prodution, but production and prototype are different species.....

The forend starts the same way a 3" bar stock piece in the lathe.

As I want a fairly thin forend I gotta machine out the cutout for the gastube and gasblock.
Not the easyest on a 14" forend:)

Forend gets its almost octagon profile

Forend almost starts to look like a forend.

Our production HK417 lower features:
1. non rotating pins
2. reinforced pin holes
3. ambidextreus magrelease
4. protected magrelease buttons so they not get engaged by mistake
5. Built in QD sling swivels
6. Interfaces on both sides for future needs

some guys have all the fun.

That is rad.

Forend fitting against upper.
Here is also the extra length of the upper appearant.
For a more ridgid konstruction and more freedom to chose scopes

Beautiful! If you need someone to test fire it, Id be happy to help. :)

with all my deepest envy:
I have seen what some Swedish has done about building vintage Harley motor parts, and now I see this...
...something in your water, maybe ?

With the 18" barrel Accuracy is pretty nice, but I have some more work to be doing with the .260.

The switchbarrel system seems to work the way i want to:)

Nah, his address says Sweden, and all those are only for use on Americans.........

NYC Mayor Kim Ill Bloomberg says there is a major Al Queda presence in Sweden, you might be seeing a US led embargo on sparklers soon.

Sweden has a long history of manufacturing and metallurgical prowess dating back to no later than the Viking era. Their artillery barrels are without peer in the world, and the US is a major customer when it comes to purchasing Bofors steel barrels, some of which are used on the AC-130 40mm Bofors gun.

The reason is that you had a very tough, sea-going people with access to the oceans and seas, who had a propensity for exporting violence in a manner that saw their influence spread across European, Mediterranean, Black Sea, and even North Atlantic coasts. During their adventures, they even named one of the largest land areas after a Viking warlord named Rus, modern and ancient Russia owing its name to him.

Most of the truly warlike Swedish peoples left Sweden and migrated to a new land of opportunity free from Lutheran State-controlled oppression, and have called America their home for a century and a half or more. Andersson, Eriksson, Johansson, Karlsson, Nilsson, Mansson, etc. are common Swedish names found all over the US, especially the Midwest Great Plains and Rockies. Most have been Anglicized as they spread to the British Isles and US. Many of you reading this have a Swedish last name, for example.

The hard winters basically weeded out all the lazy and not-so-smart people for centuries, until heated apartments came along. Guys like Spuhr are some of the holdouts.

Thanks about your truly fine explaining, and about teachin'me the phrase " ...people..who had a propensity for exporting violence...": truly polit.correct as well effective_
(on some British shores, for centuries, until now, have been finded ancient traces of this Viking propensity, and their sea-born night raids, performed from already tough guys WITH an ADDED berserker first to land,if what I've readed is true, must have been something to reckon, for sure..)

How is the barrel attached? Is it something that will work with a standard barrel or did you use your own design
