AR10B to take Pmags?

Friend got an armalite ar10b when his dad passed.

He wants to use pmags in it to match other rifles he has.

He asked me if he could change the lower to work.
My initial searches it looks like the ar10b upper needs a modification to work with pmags?
So change the lower, AND modify the upper?
If that is the case then maybe it would be best to just buy more of the mags that fit the B and leave it as is?

While Armalite mags appear to be expensive, I would rather keep the rifle as is and just pay the price for a handful of mags.

Armalite A and B lowers do not interchange in any way with their respective uppers, even the small parts are different with the exception of the BCG. The metal B mags are excellent and worth what they cost. I have both versions. Tell your friend to buy them before they stop making them........

You can use a B upper on an A lower but it will require to have someone mill away the mag stops on the interior of the receiver sides. Your friend will be better off enjoying what he has, a great but unappreciated rifle.

While mags may seem expensive to pmags they are cheap compared to KAC & LaRue metal mags. But they are on par with most mag still being made today. Plastic is cheaper to produce and won't last as long as a metal mag.
