I am looking for the bang for the buck AR15 Comp for my DPMS Panther Sportical. I really don't care how loud it is because my weapon is load as crap anyways. I would like to reduce muzzle jump.
Thanks for any responses.

Re: AR15 Compensator

Check out the PWS FSC556. Mind you I don't have any personal experience with this particular brake, I DO have experience with their FSC47. The FSC47 does a very good job of reducing muzzle climb on my AK, I am quite pleased with it.

The FSC556 and FSC47 are very similar in design, so I imagine they would be in function as well.

Re: AR15 Compensator

+1 for the PWS comp. I never used a comp before and ended up with a PWS as partial payment for some photo work. Muzzle rise is reduced but it comes at the price of noise and concussion.

It's not over bearing but it is noticible compared to a A2 flash hider. I personally don't mind and if you want/need to have the "anoying guy" beside you leave the range it works well for that too...

EDIT:
You can usually find them used for around $65-$70. I guess they were factory parts on some FN product so don't disregard FN marked versions if you see one, it's the same thing just with a different stamp.

Re: AR15 Compensator

Could be the greatest thing since bacon or a piece of junk.

There is no brand so doing any research on it will be difficult. If you like it go for it. Me personally, I would buy a used PWS before that one for the price. Something about the screw/clamping mechanism on that one makes me question the strength and if it will loosen.

Re: AR15 Compensator

I noticed that clamp thingy also. Made me question it also. There is also a guy selling ss comps on ebay that have 40 holes drilled in it from all sides. Know anything about that design?

Re: AR15 Compensator

Sounds similar to a battlecomp or spikes dynacomp (very similar design to the battlecomp). Users report the battlecomp is a awesome piece. I have not used one.

Post a link or pic...

Re: AR15 Compensator

Ok, thats nothing like a battlecomp LOL

Again me personally would pass. That one is pretty long at 3".

Another worth a look is the surefire MB556K

Re: AR15 Compensator

I haven't used the BC but I've nearly everything else and I agree, the MB556K is a great brake. I believe it's a better brake than the PWS, I've used both. However, the Surefire is much louder for people nearby than most brakes. I've never messed with a Miculek. Anyone shot the latest AAC brakes?

Re: AR15 Compensator

I've used a SJC Titan, SF MB556K, PWS556, Flatland and Forge F2 comp.

I would rank them in that order of effectiveness as well.

The SJC and SF were basically the same, except the SF is about $40 more expensive. The PWS was still pretty good. Trailing way last was the F2, it was just all over the place for me.

Re: AR15 Compensator

I looked very hard at the FC556 and was dead set on getting one...
Until I found this http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?i...&groupid=54
Before I jumped on it I spoke with a few people who shoot competitively and have used both the FC556 and the Rainier XTC. They liked both but said the Rainier exibited better muzzle control. I have not used the FC556 myself but I do like the Rainier XTC ALOT! It is definately worth the money I spent on it.
