I know the FGMM are good beyond 600 yards. But what about 100-600 yards? Id rather get one bullet and use that, than go from 168s and jump to 175s beyond 600yds. Granted Im not shooting beyond 600 yet, but I plan on soon... God willing haha

Re: Are 175 FGMMs okay from 100-1000yds>

yep 168s are cheaper for 100-500 but I have always shot 175s from 20ft to 1100yds out of a 5R... only one data card to memorize

Re: Are 175 FGMMs okay from 100-1000yds>

The 175 FGMM and the 175 PRVI both work well with same POI for me at 100 yards.
I recently shot a competition at 800 yards rem 700 USO 5-25 using PRVI 175 FMJBT.
I came in second to a guy who rolls his own.
The cost of the FGMM 175 about $21.00 per box.
The PRVI FMJBT 175 is about $14.00 per box.
I figured between the two I am covered.

The only factory load I am aware of that using the 178BTHP right now is Hornady Superformance.

It may or may not work well in your rifle. They tend to be on the warm side.

My experience with PRVI Match is less than satisfactory in rifles that are capable of phenomenal accuracy.

I have seen they are running deals on the 175s and 168s now. Im tempted. But it would be easier for me to obtain the FGMMs versus a handloaded round. Say SWA goes under ( for whatever reason ) then I would have to accommodate my data cards again. Though a lot of people say they are damn near close tot he FGMM

Re: Are 175 FGMMs okay from 100-1000yds>

In my opinion, Southwest Ammo's 175gr SMK is better than FGMM. SWA rounds are about the closest thing to a handloaded round that you can get....or you can go to Bryan Litz and use his stuff. Both will easily shoot great groups from 1-1000 yards. Aint cheap but you get what you pay for....especially with the Lapua brass.

Re: Are 175 FGMMs okay from 100-1000yds>

plenty of options for an "OK" 175 gr to 1000

usually for a good or excellent options you will need to fine tune the load to the rifle, initially and possibly at intervals as the throat wears

by the time you use 2000 rds of match ammo you can buy a basic loading setup and components, IMO you will never understand the ammo part of shooting until forced to learn it for reloading

Not entirely true. New load that caught my eye for the M14.

We will not go under. We are small but that makes it easier for us to move with the markets. This year we will expand with at least 20 new products this year. We are here to stay.
