Just wondering if their are any ar-15s worth keeping factory original for example a knights armament sr-15 mod 2? That was just an example I threw out could be any maker.

Pretty much any rifle bought for “investment” will hold its value better in stock configuration. But, pretty much any rifle can be made more functional with aftermarket parts. So, yes and no.

Guess it depends on how hard you're going run it or photograph it.... There's a metric shit ton of bog basic AR's out there that are doing just fine. Will you be it them off buildings, dipping it in sandy mud or doing succesive mag dumps to melt the hand guards and droop the barrel or be just taking it to the range for a few hundred round now and then ?
There's no shortage of stock Rugers, Springfields, S&W's + olde time ARs like Bushmaster, RRA, DPMS & Colt running thousands of rounds. Triggers might be meh, and fore ends and stocks might not be Gram worthy, but they reliably make reasonably grouped holes in things.
