Re: Aren't people just great?
I've said it before and I'll say it again- there are too damn many people on this little blue space rock. There will always be psychos, but the quantity thereof is proportional to the total.
We need to return to our more basic nature, back when we were more in tune with "God's Law" than man's. [This is intended as a commentary on human nature, not religion, so please don't go there.]
I feel for kids that suffer cruelty, we (as a species) have failed them by failing to hold each other accountable for our deeds. In cases like this, it's important to realize that death is more merciful than lingering in such an evil place.
Look how many kids are warped by this one single incident, how sad. I hope in time they can move past it and not perpetuate it. As for dad, I say public waterboarding would be good. Followed by a good old fashioned hanging. Step-mom deserves no better, even if she wasn't the ringleader...
to quote Bonhoeffer: “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil ... Not to speak is to speak, not to act is to act.”
