Army medal of Valor?

My wifes son was awarded the Army Medal of Valor for his actions in Afghanistan last Oct.

Being a 12 yr Air Force guy myself I don' t really know much about Army awards. Anyway the citation read like a movie. Just wondering if this medal is big deal? Sounds like it but not sure.

Are you talking about an Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) with a V (Valor) device?

"V" device can be on a few other medals as well. Either way, congrats to him for earning it.
