I purchased an APO TACT-3 tripod from a member on this forum a while ago, I have it coupled with a Leupold MK4 spotter.

I've seen on the APO website a nice nylon carry case that fits the tripod and scope into one efficient package, so I decided I'd contact APO and get a price with the hopes of it being reasonably priced enough to purchase. These cases are not listed in the APO Store through the website.

I have called or tried to call a dozen times. Half the time an automated dialing tree answers in which the extension for sales listed on the APO website does nothing (x998) and the other half the time a very nice and pleasant receptionist answers the phone. Each time I have asked for sales they are either on the phone or out of the office and each time she offers me the sales person's voicemail. THREE times now I have left a clear message on the voice mail concerning my interest in purchasing a case for my tripod/spotter, I've also included my name and call back number with each voice mail.

I haven't heard shit back and frankly I'm tired of hoping they will allow me to spend my money with them.

Is this typical in anyone else's experience? Is the civilian market just a pain in the ass for them to deal with?

Frankly it has me pissed enough to consider selling the tripod, these things are damn expensive and if it was to need a repair or service and I experienced the same lack of attention I would likely blow a gasket.

Any insight would be helpful, I'd like to know if I'm wasting my time.

That was my experience with them as well. No way in hell would I deal with them in the future.

I have had a comedy of errors in dealing with apo ranging from wrong action screws, wrong mag, shipping to wrong address twice it as if they have better things to do besides make things right for a customer that has spent a lot of money for a chasis.

I don't know if CoryT on here is still a dealer for them at gunsite....but if he is.....try going through him. When I aquired my Ashbury Stock back when they were still super rare...he's the guy who managed to get it for me.

Ashbury is not setup to deal direct, you need to go through a dealer. I never have any issues working with Michelle for example, but I talk with then once a week or so. That said, the carry case is not a separate part number, it's part of a kit. I don't know if I can get it parted out, but if you still want it, I'll ask. There is a soft case, and hard transit case it fits into, do you want the whole set?

I've learned infinitely more from you than from Ashbury....thanks.

I thought it was either or, but now you say they are a set I see what you mean. The nylon case looks like it has zero padding on the "lid", any idea if it does offer protection by itself or is the set the only real way to give transport protection to the tripod and scope?

A while back, sent an email to their sales e-mail about the availability of the Nylon Tripod Case w/MOLLE-PALS (colors: ACU, OD Green, Coyote Brown, Black). Did not receive a response so after a week called and spoke with Michelle who was very polite and passed my contact info along about my question.

Did not receive a callback, so after a week called and was transferred to a technical personal who said that Nylon Tripod Case would be available sometime after SHOT.

The nylon case alone has minimal padding on the cover, it's really designed to be in the hard case. It's more of a transport case than a field carry system.

Affirm, I've got the TACT-3S kit. The nylon case does have old-school ALICE clips on it, but in reality, it's mostly just useful as a foam insert for the hard transport case. If you want to protect your tripod, I'd get them both. They're well made, although I don't get the ALICE clips. I suspect that the military made an attachment system a requirement for the soft case and APO, realizing the impracticality just did the minimum. Then again, that's just a guess. Seriously, if you clipped that thing on your pack, it'd be like having Mini Me hanging on to you. If you're using it in the field, it'll probably be tucked into an Eberlestock pack, which is what I do. The soft case is just to large to be practical in the field.

I wanted to buy a Terrapin from APO. I called them and asked if they honored the SH discount that some retailers on the hide offer. She said they would have a special price during shot show and would email me the discount amount as soon as she got to shot........ never did. I called twice and emailed once more... still waiting on that call. Bought it from Mile High where they respect their customers..... Just my experience.
