I think I have my decision narrowed down to these 2 choices for my 6.5 saum hunting rifle.

am curious if anyone has preferences either way and why.

also who tends to have the best prices in your choice.

We sell alot of NF and Leupold, so both are good. In fact, you will not find a bad Leupold or a bad Nightforce scope. The ATACR, is, however, a World Class scope. The Mark 5 is a very good scope, and very popular, but not in the same leauge.

If we can help you with your choices, let me know, personally.

I am also debating between these two For a LR hunting rifle . The Mark5 I paid for is now on backorder and contemplating going to an atacr 4-16x42. Def like the mil-c over any of leupys reticles. With that maybe I have answered my own question but Interested in hearing others experiences also.

Well I definitely am not a scope retailer, but I do own a 4-16 ATACR and a Mark 5 3.6-18 and have both on hunting rifles. And from a real world perspective, in my opinion, for hunting I definitely prefer the Leupold. I agree the the reticle is less than to be desired, (the TMR vs the Mil-C), but the scope is easier to get behind quickly, and the eye relief is amazing on the Leupold. Glass is great on both, but I’ve hunted with both several times and the Leupold is just a much easier scope for me to hunt with. I have mine on a 6.5 PRC and think it’s perfect for that rifle. The ATACR is a tank, and is a favorite on some plinking rifles I own, and even have one on my Vudoo. But just not my favorite for hunting. But I do agree with ironoperator87, the Mil-C is a fantastic reticle. Just my 2 cents. Not worth much, but there ya go.

I too am leaning Atacr but now debating a used S&B 3-20 ultra short.

The 3-20 US is way ahead of ATACR in FOV, depth, better glass, obviously bigger mag range, etc. If your stepping up budget wise to the 3-20us it's worth it. I also like the 3-15 zp5 that is in that same 3-20us category for competing optics. The ZCO 4-20 is in that same category. The Leupy and Atacr dont compete with those scopes.

I have a couple 4-16 atacr’s along with a S&B 5-20 US. The NF scopes are well made and don’t give up much to the Schmidt’s. I wouldn’t get rid of either. No opinion on the L&S, and no desire to own one.
