Just took my new ATACR 4-16x50 F1 to the Range. LOVE this optic - Glass, turrets, etc exceeded expectations. However, the Tenebraex caps and the fact that the diopter turns is f'ing me up big time. I was engaging targets at multiple distances (I was adjusting the power) and the hinge on the rear cap is getting in the way of running the bolt. I'm running NF medium rings and that's the perfect height for my cheek weld. I know the rear cover rotates but sunofabitch it's driving me insane.

Any suggestions? If the answer is "Suck it up buttercup and get a bikini cover" I can live with that. Just curious what other people are running to get around this problem.

Thanks

Maybe I'm doing a shit job explaining what's happening. When I adjust magnification, the diopter (where the rear cap is attached) rotates in unison with the magnification adjustment. I've been monkeying around with it and I lose a portion of magnification depending on where I seat the cap.

I'm thinking I'm just going bikini and leave it off while hunting or try butler creek.

Thanks for the replies thus far.

5-25 ATACR F1 here.
I detach the removable ocular cap part before I shoot and then replace it before I get off the gun. I’ve always done this w/ my NFs, so it’s just a habit, but it works lol.

The locking ring is against the diopter which is where it should be after properly adjusting diopter focus. Once the dipoter is set, and the locking ring snugged up against the diopter everything from the magnification ring to the eyepiece rotates in unison. I believe the scope was designed this way. It wouldn't be a big deal if this was an an AR pattern rifle, but since it's on a bolt gun it's not optimal. It's no big deal, I'm over it...just took a bikini cover off another scope and put it on this one. It's a hunting rifle, so when I'm stalking or setting up for a shot the cover comes off. No big yank, but I wasn't expecting it either.

I went Butler Creek bikini on a 4x16x42. The stock caps are a hassle.
