I assembled a 16" Criterion .308 using an Aero Precision upper, lower and hand guard. Went together easily, just like a big ar15...

Looking at either the Vortex PST Gen II 1-6x, mrad or the Athlon 1-6x Midas BTR, mil reticle. I was able to see and handle the Vortex but any Athlon is rare around here. The Vortex seemed solid, and the dealer said this one had been fixed for an illumination issue. Glass was good and the reticle OK.

I do have the Athlon 4-14x Talos BTR, bought sight unseen, on my CZ 455. Really like the reticle and feature set on this scope. Hope the 1-6x would be similar.

Anyone have both? Or an opinion on the 1-6x BTR? Or a preference?

Thanks all!

I did a review on a Midas 1-6 on Scout. In short it was a fantastic scope! On my AR, both holding over with the reticle and dialing out to 675Y, it performed perfectly. Glass was super, reticle was my favorite of any SFP, 1x to whatever x, I've seen. I like capped but finger adjustable turrets for this kind of scope, which it had. The only thing I wished for was daylight bright illume. The illume was almost bright enough but not quite. Though being that it was SFP and the reticle stood out well seeing the reticle for fast transitions didn't hinder me speedwise. Also the one I had was the MOA version so the reticle had the big circle for centering up.

The G2 1-6 I can't comment on because I haven't been behind one.

Thanks steve123.
There is little written about the Midas 1-6x compared to the higher magnification cousins. And it is an interesting scope, both lighter and shorter than the Vortex I was looking at. Still looking.

The Midas BTR 1-6x in Mil is discontinued by Athlon. The Gen2 BTR is only in MOA, I wasn't a fan of that when Athlon replaced my Gen 1 Mil scope so I now have a Gen2 for sale in the optics section
