I got an atlas today and it seems to be everything that the hide makes it out to be. I can't wait to get out and use it. Only thing is the knob that controls the tension won't turn at all. It says on the instructions not to force it but ive put blisters on my hands trying to loosen it anyway and it wont budge. Is there some way to fix this? I don't want to put it into a vice but if that's worked for others let me know.

Re: atlas knob stuck

So I won't move either way? Mine knob was a little stiff when new but wasn't all that hard. Mount it up to the gun and see if you can move the bipod around and it might loosen it up a little.

Searcher- so if I go to using tools I won't damage it? Im no weakling and im really torquing on this thing I just don't want to do something im going to regret.

Re: atlas knob stuck

shabazz, Thanks for buying an Atla bipod and I'm sorry about your experience. Another customer sent us a email about this and seeing this post, it seems we let a few bipods out without breaking the Tension knob loose. Again, I apologize.

Wrap the ALUMINUM tension knob with a bit of leather or heavy cloth, use something to protect the knob, then turn it in the direction OPPOSITE of the arrow.

thorshammer, the Tension Knob should turn 5/8 - 7/8 of a rotation from "lock to lock" and in the direction of the arrow.

What happens by rotating the knob in the direction of the arrow is compressing the Bellville washers further, which adds tension to the PAN and CANT, it does no lock this function.

Thanks Kasey I was hoping you would see this. I was worried that I was going to break this thing but as long as your cool with it ill get my tools out tonight and let you know what happens.

Re: atlas knob stuck

I just received my new Atlas two days ago and the knob was very, very hard to turn at first...mounted it to the rifle and turned the opposite direction using a dish towel, loosened and was fine after that....added oil to soak overnight and it is fine today.

Re: atlas knob stuck

I bought two a few months ago. One worked flawlessly and the other was just like the OP's. I contacted Steve at Triad who directed me to Kasey. I followed his advice, but ultimately had to send it in. Kasey made it right and did it quickly. In the end, I am very happy with the product. Good luck!
