wondering if you atlas users are finding the quick release version as necessary or if the clamp on version would be ok. i don't really find myself removing my bipods much. curious if the extra cost is worth it?

Re: atlas user question

I've got it on my AR10, but not my bolt gun. That seems about right to me. I RARELY take my bipod off my bolt gun, but I don't always want it hogging rail space or adding weight to my AR10.

uhhhh??? so that means you have the quick release version or the clamp on and you like which?

Re: atlas user question

I have the quick release version. I also have a half dozen precision rifles. There's no way I'm throwing down for an Atlas for every one (unlike my Razor HDs, I can swap an Atlas with no downside) so for me the quick release is mandatory.

They each have their purpose. You need to ask yourself which you will gain more use out of. Sharing it across multiple rifles, the QD is the way to go. Not sharing it or don't have a need to remove it for the safe/case? Go with the bolt up type. It hugs the rifle better by about 1/2" and I prefer that more.

When I had my clamp on models the screw heads were a standard flat blade. I'm not positive if they have changed or not b/c I sold them and replaced them with the QD models. I use 2 bipods on about 6 rifles.

Re: atlas user question

I'm about 8000 miles from mine at the moment, but if I remember right it's an allen wrench, 3/16" or so.

ETA: Of course my memory might be off and they're slotted screws. What I get for not seeing my rifles for months at a time.

Re: atlas user question

I'd recommend the QR model. If you shoot competitions, etc. there are cases when its nice to be able to take your bipod off in a flash....

Re: atlas user question

QD is worth it for me. I use it on 3 different rifles and like the ability to take it off for off hand shooting and storage. If you have/plan to get more than one precision rifle, I say get the QD now and save some money down the road.

No, but I don't swap it between rifles. I have it on an AICS spigot mount so if I want to take it off I do it that way.

Re: atlas user question

QR all the way I have a AR10 and bolt action rifle. Less weight and saves space in an instance. Buy once cry once. Jusy my .02 cents worth.

+1 I use 2 QD Atlas Bipods on 5 rifles. Saves time and money instead of buying 5 bipods. Cry once not twice or twice not three times in my case.
