Gunsmithing attaching a barrel, AR15

I am planning on building my own AR15/M4 rifle in the near future. Can somebody please tell me the procedure for properly installing the barrel/gas system, and properly checking headspace.

Also, if you have any other input/tips for this project in general, I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone has.

My son just built his own M4, with only a small assist from me, and he used "The competitive AR15 Builders Guide" by Zediker. Also there are some great videos at Brownells you can watch.

It's pretty easy. Best reference I've found is here. Despite what some say, I do check headspace with GO and NO GO gauges.
