As far as i've always known, you attach the bipod to stud closest to the muzzle of your rifle, so that your sling can attatch to the rear stud.

Try them both and see what you like better. Further from rear bag makes it easier to keep yourself from horizonal groups, but also makes it diuficult to engage multiplet targets.

That's what I was thinking until I noticed that the Harris bipod has its own swivel stud...

Yeah butt it jabs your shoulder pretty good when you have it attatched to the pod. That being the case then it really doesnt matter.
