Attaching bipod?

I just bought my first bipod. I know nothing about them so I looked here on the forums and everyone said buy an Atlas CAL. I looked on Amazon and said "HOLY SH|T!" when saw it was $300. So it must be good right. So EFF IT I bought the ATLAS Cal Bipod - with ADM-170-S - BT65-LW17

Question. I have a key mod hand guard so do I just slap any 'ol 3" piece of keymod to 1913 adapter on the bottom for an attachment point? Please advise.

Thank you,

L_S

Thanks you Steel. Figured it was stupid simple question but I don't have a keymod rail section and I want to get one ordered right away as well so I don't have to wait for pod to arrive then figure it out.

Its funny. I did spend some time looking but apparently this is soo simple that its not really stated explicitly anywhere when I googled it. LOL I looked at reviews and a couple threads here but nowhere that I looked stated "just get mlok or keymod 1913 rail and your GTG". *shrug*

BCM aluminum 5-slot is a good place to start, that's what I use on my KMR rails. In point of fact, BCM recommends aluminium rail sections for any load bearing attachments. Can't say i disagree as I had a polymer rail section fail and ruin a forend.

Funny because that is exactly what I just ordered a BCM 3" (5 slot) rail section.

Another question. Best feet for shooting off a cement/concrete shooting table?

OK, I saw the Sniper Hide guy in his video using what looked like skies. Was also talking about pod bounce so I was wondering if the rubber feet were not idead for hard surface. *shrug*
I run a CAL with the standard rubber feet on concrete, no loading or performance issues. You chose wisely in terms of bipod. Just make sure you didn’t get a counterfeit from amazon (very common). If so, immediately return it and notify amazon, get your money back, and buy from EuroOptic or direct from B&T. If it’s legit, then rock on and make sure you mount it to a steel/aluminum rail and not a plastic section.

?

There are plenty of fakes being sold out there but there are also plenty of how to spot a fake guides too in case you have concerns of the authenticity. Also use a little blue loctite on and torque your rail to 20 in lbs to make sure it doesnt vibrate loose on you.

Slightly off-topic question: All my rifles have ARCA rails. Which Atlas CAL variant (wrt mount) is appropriate; it appears that I have to acquire an adapter from RRS or Area 419 in any event?

Get one of the ones that will accept an ADM clamp/QD. You don’t want the two screw clamp style as it won’t allow for an ARCA attachment. Get the RRS BTC-Pro. Allows pic and Arca attachment and is super solid.

So would that be the BT65-NC (no clamp) variant?

I have the RRS adapter for my primary Harris bipod; with that adapter and a Podlok the Harris seems pretty solid. Given that I bought both my Harris bipods used for half or two-thirds the new price and back-fit them with the adapter and Podloks, they've done very well. But maybe the time is right to get some time with an Atlas before spring... I've used one only once for a total of about 45 minutes; I borrowed it at a little match where I left half my gear at home. It didn't overwhelm me with goodness over the Harris but I didn't do more than shoot off a bench.

Good to know. I will review info on the counterfits. Also, I see Eurooptics was one of the three sellers. However I went with the second one on the list. It was a couple dollars more but they have over 8K reviews and 100% positive so I figured it would be a sure thing.

If I suspect anything I will return and buy from Euro. Good to know in the future.

Thank you,

Already mentioned above, but I think you will eventually want to go arca swiss for the adjustability. I have a pic rail on the bottom of my KRG arca clamp that my cal atlas attaches to. It is a very solid setup.

Bipod showed up today. Definitely legit. and it is in fact a Gen 2. Bonus.

I did notice a difference I have yet to see in the YT vids. On mine the button you push to swivel the legs are flaired out like an under-cut flat head screw. So when I push the button it bottoms out on the under cut flat; then I swivel legs forward or back.
