Attending a tactical match with a "physical profile"

I've got bad arthritis in both knees. I've been fortunate that the match director has always taken that into consideration and allowed me to alter stages a bit (like allowing me to sit where others kneel for example). Best advice would be to contact the match director for the specific match you are considering. Especially if you have a specific limitation you know about in advance.

Good luck.

Have seem both formats. Don't think there is a SOP for this across all matches. Typically, most MDs are understanding of chronic conditions (e.g. bum knee, bad back, old age, etc) but less so to guys half-assing it. If you are a young guy, half-assing it, watch out - the older guys, putting it all out, will not appreciate you much.

As an MD I can say there is good advice in here. I have never seen an MD refuse an accommodation when someone approached with a serious issue. I will usually come up with an alternate exercise I deem equivalent, or just allow them to skip it if we're not shooting for a brand new Harley Davidson.

Yeah - I let the over 50 guys alter these sorts of stages, but most of the time they don't accept the offer and prefer to "do it just like everybody else."

As someone almost in that club myself, I respect that.

Here's what would totally succeed with me: Approach the MD privately and ask for an accommodation in the form of an equivalent exercise of his choosing that doesn't involve the injured body part.

Thanks for the input.

Now I just need to get my broken ass out to some matches, just not much going on in the SE Texas region in the way of tactical/practical rifle matches.
