Anyone using both? What are you using to pour the powder? I was less than impressed with hornady powder die. The funnel keeps getting powder stuck in it. Try the old dryer sheets and wipe down with one shot. Didn't work.

there may be a way to get it to work but I'm sure someone else has come up with a better option?

Not my video but it has been done:

I've also seen pics of it done with a Prometheus, which was quite a bit easier given its design.

Edit:
Some required music to go with:

What is needed for that? I see the area 419 but I'm not sure what Dillon parts. Especially the inserts for the die

You need whatever dillon powder die insert for the calibre you're reloading, and the 419 funnel, drop tube, and powder die adapter. The 419 stuff just sits on top of the dillon powder die. Super simple.

If you're talking about the powder funnel die with that crappy plastic funnel, get a metal funnel from your choice of source. Plastic is awful for powder.

The external plastic funnel is easily swapped for something better, but the internal part that goes inside the powder die Dillon calls a "Powder Funnel." The powder dies for the 550-1100 are made for their powder measures, only the 450 Powder die has the set screw to hold the internal cartridge specific powder funnel in place.

Op mentioned the Hornady powder die, so I assumed that's what he was talking about. He should just have to swap the funnel with a metal one to remove the static issue.

Yeah that's the one I'm talking about. I've tried ordering random ones on Amazon and at the store. They all have a lip we're in the bottom part of the funnel connects to the top part. Powder get stuck there. Any ideas of a good funnel? I like the area 419 even though it's like super expensive for what it is. If it would fit I would buy it.

Maybe something like this?

Where did you come up with this?

@ormandj

I’m not quite clear on what you’re asking. If you’re asking why I state plastic funnels are terrible for powder, the OPs post is exactly what I am referring to. They generally build up a static charge and end up attracting powder. Aluminum and steel will never do this.

When using the AT 500 powder die the MK adapter that goes over the die leaves kernels on the internal (metal) powder funnel because the MK adapter doesn't go down low enough.

I contacted MK Machining about it thinking it would be a helpful fix for him to add 3/8" and have a set up that works.

Machining is not a word I'd use to describe 3d printed plastic parts.

The Dillon powder die with the set screw and Dillon plastic funnel works as advertised, no static.... Also the Area419 aluminum funnel, drop tubes, and Dillon powder die work equally as good. If you need a drop tube go the Area419 route, if not, the Dillon route will work just perfectly. Been using this for a few years now.

Also depending on your die setup, you might not have enough space in the tool head with the Area419 funnel if you are using bullet droppers and your die arrangement., just a thought.... The Dillon funnel is small, fits into a tightly packed tool head.

I load using an S1050.

With stick powders I set the drop to be slightly low.....and pull the brass after the powder drop.

This cheap rube goldberg device does its thing. I pour the powder from the scale pan back into the brass using this....

, replace brass on the shell plate and carry on.

Kind of a lot of transfers of powder but generally I only use stick powders for bigger cartridges where time doesnt matter and quantity is sufficient for needs.

TBH, I’ve tried most combinations, Dillon, Area 419, Hornady etc., and the Hornady LNL Powder Funnel Die works best for me. Plastic has one major advantage - you can see through it. Every combination I’ve tried will bridge, and you won’t know till its too late. The setup below rarely bridges, the long drop tube helps with compressed loads, and the LNL tube is much more stable than Dillons.

(P.S. I really like the 4th stage Redding Instant Indicator to measure every round as it comes off the press)

Haha I came down here to post basically the same thing. I've tried a few different funnels and the cheap MTM is what I use for 223 and 6.5 now. Although I don't use a die, I just stick the funnel in the toolhead hole.
