They are all short and or WSM actions in the pic.all with integral 20MOA rails and recoil lugs. the long actions for 30-06, 300wm etc are next up and the magnum actions for the .338LM ready by IWA 2010.
Fit Rem 700 stocks, take Rem 700 triggers.and have a 3 position bolt shroud mounted safety catch and a 3 lug bolt.
The short actions accept AW 10rd double stack magazines, the .338LM actions will accept the AI CIP length mags,the 300winmags accept the current AICS 300wm magazines, we've still fiddling with 30-06 and 6.5x55 mags, and there will be a .223 version as soon as we have suitable magazines.

LOL you would have to build one of these as a bull-pup to get that hole near your face.
+1 on the bolt, it sounds very interesting. You have a plan to get these into the states at a comparable price?

I'll post more pics when i have some done, same with prices.
The gas vent is on the left. Just the same as it is with a Tikka, a Howa, a Barnard and many other actions, it never seemed to be a problem with those.

Peter, work looks nice - I am really starting to think of building a target/hunting rifle in 6,5x55 with the Avenger 2 - any idea on how long delivery time one should expect in Europe?

Mattias. Ive got finnished rifle prices worked out. .308 type cartridges, WSM's. Winmags etc are all set with exact parts specs, the .338 lapua will come early next year. The .308 and WSM based rifles will start to ship out of here next month.
what i'm still to decide on is the magazine for the .30-06 and 6.5x55 ( bending the lips in on a .300WM AICS mag is not a solution i want long term). The quickfix would be to put HS mag systems under the action. But i'm evaluating mags at the mo for these 2 types of calibers.
What we are doing is changing the onus of the business from totaly 100% one of a kind custom manufactured rifles to 75% custom series manufacture, this means we are in a possition to have a constant production with parts on shelf and faster delievery time. Tactical and Hunting rifles will be based on these actions. With all Match rifles bieng based on the Barnard actions but with the Model 07 Barnard built by us/me also in series as an LE / Tactical type.
Big stuff like the .50BMG and .408 will be based on the Barnards also, unless a cheytac repeater with magazine is required, then the Lawton action will be used.
This all means i spend more time working at the machines than talking through thousands of options with customers. Which is what i want.
Unlike the Avenger I, the Avenger II will be for sale as just an action, I'm sure we will get the supply and numbers wrong for a start until we get a feel for the market requirement,murphys law etc, so we'll either have to many actions of one sort and not enough of the other on shelf. But delivery time should be from on shelf to maximum 3 months if we've just run out unexpectedly.

Will you still be offering semi custom rifles or will you only concentrate on full custom Avenger II builds?
What material are they machined from? Will you be producing a Ti version!

Hi Craig.
yes we will still be offering the semi customs, the RH40 T has proved to be very popular, but we will stick to one configuration with less options.
The actions are chrom moly. other materials may be up for consideration at some point, we will see. you realy think there is a market for a Ti version?

Only a limited amount of people would be interested in a Ti action. I was thinking more along the lines of an ultralight “WSM” mountain rifle with a flush magazine? Slip that into a “Hunters edge” …..Awesome!

Thanks for the info Pete, on my wish-list would be a 6,5x55 fed from true dual row mags, are you planning to make the Avenger 2 feed from AW/AWSM mags, rather than AICS-mags?

Gyr, funny that, as i was engraving the numbers etc into the WSM's i was thinking, this ones for Jaimie. Jon has is name on nr S0002. The CAD program has a weight estimation factor in it, ive 1300g im my head but i think that was for the LA prototype.
I'll weight a finnished action of each type - caliber spec anyhow.
Craig you are thinking sort of along the same lines as me, on the standard action the bolt handle / knob are solid steel, there is room for lightening there. It would be possible to flute the action in places and the bolts are helicaly fluted anyway.
What i envisage is the action in the lightest version of an MCS T, or one of Edi's PSE stocks. one of those alloy sleeved LW barrels. ( my 2.9kg heavy looking, light handling .260rem has one, and its oh so damn accurate) with a 5rds AW type mag that sits flush. With a BR Light varmint profile barrel the rifle would weight an estimated 3kg maybe 3.1kg, but shoot and look like a 5 to 6kg rifle.

If I'm reading into specs correctly you've put the best of everything in one package. 60 deg bolt throw, shround mounted safety (blocks firing pin not just trigger, correct?), AW mags, intergral lug and rail, accepts M700 triggers, and fits m700 stocks. LM, that about sums it up.
Its fairly straight forward to export from here. same procedure for a rifle as for an action, infact, same procedure for anything weapon related exept a picatinny rail. ( go figure)

Would it be possible to make an action that use Anschutz match triggers? I can live with a long (30-06) action with a short mag (6.5x47) to make room for the trigger.
On a general note: Make sure the bolt throw on any action is adapted to mag length.

Hi Edi, recoil lug sits exactly the same in relation to screw holes etc as for the Rem 700. It extends the action by more than a standard remmy lug and will need a slightly larger recoil lug socket milling in stocks. The lug istself is 6.5mm thick.
Torf, i'm not a fan of the Anschutz triggers, there are good enough triggers for the Rem 700 on the market. But after the fact adaptation is possible with a rem 700, no reason it shouldnt be with the Avenger II.. Just i'll not be doing it.
Bolt travel fitting with case-mag length goes without saying,.

First Off , they look real nice .
Would like to see the bolts & handles etc , and what is the tunion lenght etc .
They appear to be a lite weight option , when compared to the M2008 actions ,
What I would really like to see , would be a scaled UP AW action , in 338LM ( ala AX338 ) , so sought of a knock Off of the New AI AX338 , as these will not be availabe for some time .
I would just scale UP the AW 308 action , and run 10rd double feed French PGM mags .
Also would like to see a real nice 408CT repeater action , with nice magazines .

The PGM bits seem well made and reliable, thier .338 muzzle brake is one of the best on the market. I'll check out the mags.
Problem with the Cheytac is that the market is too small to warrant a small company like mine investing in the action developement,. thats why all my Chey's will be, are on Lawton or Barnard actions.

You could easily swap optics if you have an AIAW or any rifle with a 0MOA rail, and use canted one piece mounts from AI, Recknagel, DTA. Just if your other rail is 20MOA you have to make more of an adjustment every time you swap, and e.g. with my 45MOA mount on your 20MOA rail I end up 65MOA.
If I swapped the scope I already have back and forth instead of buying another one, it saved me enough money to purchase a barreled Avenger II.

Also I get the impression , that you will be able to get different stock panels etc , like different thickness back straps for the free standing pistol grip , and maybe a thumbhole version as well ?
So curtain thngs are modular & swappable .

What i'm still deciding is the amount of MOA in the rail on the magnum version of the action. Do we stay with 20MOA, when for a .338LM more makes sence. We have 20MOA block mounts in our inventory anyhow, so by using a 20MOA rail as part of the action, we end up with 40MOA total, is that enough ?
The idea is to make that what is appealing to most, as we'be been chasing our tail doing one off's for long enough.
But a order run of 10 actions would convince me to run 0MOA integral rails for that particular order.

Another rifle + expensive scope = tons of money. But I can see that you wanna cut down on having too many different options.
An order of 10 at a time is a lot, 5 people would be maybe more likely to find..

I understood it, it must be Yorkshire Slang..
We found that going 0 MOA rail, and thus forcing customers to buy expensive 1 piece mounts had the effect of putting them off for the exact reasons you mention, exept the other way round. They couldn't use thier existing rings with 0 MOA.
I would be interested to know what folks thing we should put on the .338LM action. so far 1 vote for 0 MOA rail.

Actually , for 338LM , one of the most widely used scopes for long range use , would be a S&B PMII 5-25x56mm , to get the most use out of this scope , they spec a 45 moa cant .
On a 338LM , I would expect , a 30 or 40 moa mount .
On 308 & 300WM , a 20 moa is OK .
RE the problem in having NO Zero moa base on action for , maybe a hunting rifle using your actions , this is maybe only going to be used in the 308 & WSM actions , simple fix , TURN around the 20 moa scope mount the Other WAy , then you are looking at zero moa , just an idea .
Maybe also look at using the new mounts by Sphur .

RE the 408CT and larger , I think you would be surprised at the number of people who ARE looking for a REAL good large action repeater with nice mags , and HAVE not brought anything , because they are STILL waiting to SEE an action they really LIKE , that and normal jacketed bullets of cause .
