I posted this before in a separate thread, but incase you missed it - here is Ron's biography:

Ron Avery - President / Training Director / PSA Pro Team Captain

Ron has over 30 years as a professional trainer and consultant to all branches of the military, select government agencies, hundreds of federal, state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies and countless clients in the private sector.

A veteran deputy sheriff, police officer and valedictorian of two police academies, Ron worked the street as well as back country and rural environments for 13 years full time and then as a reserve officer for 12 more years. During his years in law enforcement, Avery also served in the following capacities:
•Program Director and Lead Instructor – Tactical Firearms, Patrol Tactics
•Program Director and Lead Instructor – Defensive Tactics/Arrest and Control
•Lead Instructor- Officer Survival
•Primary Designated Marksman/Sniper
•Field Training Officer
•Firearms Expert Witness
•Back country patrol and Search and Rescue
•EMS – First Responder

Ron started The Practical Shooting Academy, LLC in 1989 after becoming a world class shooter. His training courses adapted what he learned from both the competition world, his experiences as a law enforcement officer and his research and development into the world of performance in lethal force and competitive environments.

His scientific methodology, taught at federal law enforcement agencies and training centers, special operations units and law enforcement departments nationwide, blends his experiences and study of the martial arts, competitive shooting, human performance and biomechanics; all anchored by practical law enforcement and life experience.

A martial artist, researcher and world class competitive shooter with many wins, titles and top finishes over the past 30 years, Ron has studied the science of shooting, tactical principles & strategy, martial arts programs, adult education, motor learning, biomechanics along with other disciplines. He has distilled the operational principles of each and created superior training doctrine and programs that are designed for all levels of ability while being easy to learn and courtroom defensible.

Ron’s tactical and instructor level certified courses are used by many of the top law enforcement agencies in the US as well as other organizations.

What distinguishes Ron from other trainers is a unique combination of decades of experience, mastery of both shooting and teaching skills and a wide range of knowledge and education related to all aspects of use of force and tactics.

His experience, cutting edge methodology and ability to deliver top level training have made him an internationally recognized trainer.

Writer

Ron writes for different publications and currently has his own column, The Firearms Corner, on PoliceOne.com where you can find many of his articles.

He has also published articles in various magazines to include:
•Petersen’s Handguns
•SWAT Magazine
•American Handgunner
•Colorado State Shooting Association
•Various law enforcement journals – IALEFI, TTPOA, ITOA etc.
•United States Practical Shooting Association’s, Front Sight magazine.

Some Career Highlights

Shortly after the terrorist incident on 09/11/2001, Avery was called in as a consultant for the United States Secret Service to revamp their firearms training program in order to modernize their program and help their many agents better do their jobs in protecting the #1 target in the free world and others they are assigned to protect.

Avery states, “It was my honor and privilege to work with some of the most quiet, professional people in the US and design a new program for them, which they have adopted as their firearms training model and are currently using.”

Also after 9/11, Avery did consulting work for the US Air Marshal Program as a Master Trainer through SAIC, training a special training cadre that taught new air marshals at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, NM.

As a firearms/use of force expert, Ron consulted, helped designed and implemented the Hit Probability Study for the Force Science Research Center with Dr. Bill Lewinski as well as provided technical expertise on various use of force subjects. This study definitively quantified the danger of being struck by a projectile in a realistic attack based on distance and helped contribute to understanding the dangers faced by officers and others by a handgun.

Hey everyone,

This class is changing a bit. Due to everything going on, this three day class is changing to a 2 day class. It's now going to be called 'Practical Handgun I" it's only $500 instead of $750 and you only need 800 rounds of ammo instead of 1200. The overall description is the same. If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks!
