Next monthly match for AZ LRPRS will be at Phoenix Rod & Gun Club on August 20th. Rounds go downrange at 0700. Match fees are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. 50 rounds will cover the COF. MD this month is Tim3gun so if you have questions about the COF, please direct them at him. Make sure to bring plenty of water. It's still pretty hot out but we've added some humidity in an attempt to make it more pleasurable.

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

On average, what positions are these matches shot from? I ask because I'm on the mend from an accident that has had me on crutches for the last 7 weeks, and I expect to be more or less good to go around that time frame, at least for "light duty." I don't want to push things too fast, but if there isn't a lot of running from stage to stage or the need to bend your feet in odd or extreme ways (broke a metatarsal), I may be OK in finally making it out...

Thanks!

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

Basher, because of the heat of summer we will be not shooting with any movement other than standing to sitting, or standing to prone. Some stages will be shot off low barricades. Everything will be under the shade of high power range awnings at the 300 and 500 yard line this month. When it cools down we will do movement to various shooting areas using natural terrain. C'mon out and enjoy.

Excellent! I just gotta hit the range and get my AR zeroed and get some comeups for it and I'll be ready for last place!

Hey! I generally own the last position!

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

Its looking like we are going to have shooters from Vegas and SoCal joining our local folks onthe firing line. Its gonna be fun. You can miss targets but dont dont miss the match.

Sure. All I need is for everyone else to show up with a new gun that hasn't been zeroed, faulty mags, or defective ammo and I'm right in there.

I actually don't even have glass for the AR right now. Got a new SS3-9x42FFP that should be on the way Monday. So that leaves me 1, maybe two weekends to get it zeroed, get some comeups, and try to confirm them (at least from 15-300 yards). Anything past 300 yards and I'll be in new territory, haha. But it'll be a learning experience, if nothing else, and I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the folks on here and see their rigs.

Ironic, I'm in almost the same exact situation you're in! Minus the scope part. I have to rip my 10x off my 22lr and put it on the ar15.

Both you all just need to do what you need to do to get out, you will enjoy it!

I'll be there one way or the other. Zeroing shouldn't take very long, and even using general info should get me comeups that are "close enough" for a first time out. Even if I only make a few hits, the experience itself will prove valuable and entertaining. As your sig line is quick to point out, there is no substitute for getting actual trigger time.

Too funny!!

But yeah, i'll do my best to make it out. I think with the amount of people showing up i'd be kicking myself if I missed out. I'm really looking foreward to this!

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

We're looking forward to having some new guys on the line. I fully expect it to be just as much fun as all of our matches. And as amusing. Sobrbiker is on a warpath with his new 6XC so bring your "A" game.

Negative.

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

Glass came in from SWFA today, should have it mounted this weekend to early nextw eek, and will be making a range trip on the 13th to zero. If anybody in the valley wishes to tag along to Rio Salado or PRGC, I'd love the assistance in running targets out and back (down to one crutch, but it would take me a long time to get out to 100 yards and back!). I may have a roommate tag along who can help, but failing that, I'd buy you lunch or something to make it worth your while.

Looking forward to finally making it out!

It shouldn't be. I think there might be one or two stages where everyone shoots at the same time, but we can break that up into two groups so you'd be able to.

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

I'm in. Hoping it doesn't rain so much that I can't sight in the AR tomorrow (scope's all mounted up, etc), but I'll figure something out. Even if I can only spectate, I'll be there, but for now, count me as a shooter.

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

Well, that was a blast!

A BIG thank you to Tim, Scott, and all the others who put this thing on!

I have to admit, my not coming in last was a big shock, haha! I guess I'd say I'm "satisfied" with my score this time around, for it being my first time out using an AR with my little SS 3-9x42FFP that I had only sighted in last week! And holy crap, those little poppers/simmey (spelling?) targets were TINY! So my score wasn't great, but not terrible either. In all, I need to fine tune my come-ups a bit (I seemed to be low by .1-.2mil which caused a few misses), reading wind (seems everybody thinks they need work here), and proper form, not to mention position shooting! So a LOT to work on, but that's half the fun, no?

I'm thinking this will be a bi-monthly thing for me, depending on my ability to attend ACTS matches in Tucson. However, gas funds/my ability to carpool down that far will be taken into account, so I may be shooting LRPRS more often but we'll see.

Either way, I had a blast and plan to get a good bit more involved! Now somebody post those scores up so I can remember where I placed, and congrats to those who took top honors!

Lastly, a big thanks to Steve for the informative discussion in the pits. I'll have to drop you a PM to get the names of those sites and such again.

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

Lesson of the day-"don't get greedy"

Matt's a machine. I can say F-Class practice has helped me A LOT on paper!

It was great to see about half our turnout was from out of state, tells me we must be doing something right
wink.gif

Thanks for a fun and challenging course of fire Tim, I know you switched the COF a couple times to give those of us headed to OK good practice and it is much appreciated!

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

Thanks, I had a great time as usual with some serious competition. A big thanks to the out of town guests for coming out and to Tim for putting on a challenging match.

Re: AZ LRPRS August Monthly Match

Good course of fire, I will have to agree Matt is just a machine, he makes shooting look easy.

I actually enjoyed sitting back on the spotter today and not shooting.

We changed my trigger out when we got home and I'll see tomorrow if its the problem.
