B14r carbon on the way

I’m not a new shooter, but am new here and to precision rimfire and would like some advice.
After a bit of investigation, I came to the conclusion that the B14r would be a good fit for me. I will be shooting mostly at 100 yards, but wanted something that would be good for occasional squirrels and occasional competition too (interested in nrl22 and prone matches). I love field target Airgun shooting, and I am a holdover guy.
I found the B14r carbon on an auction site, and I should have it soon. It’s the first auction transfer I have done, I found that one of my work perks was free ffl transfers along the way so that was one less cost to add on. I ordered a 20moa base, and plan on repurposing a Hawk Scope And a Harris bipod from one of my field target rigs to start off with.
From that point out I could use some equipment advice, e.g. are bore guides available, what slings should I look for, and any general suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Fritz

Congrats! You have a good start on equipment. I use my B14R in NRL22 comps. As my friends at the local NRL matches told me, don't buy stuff until you need it. The one thing I started with was a support bag. Very handy. Over time I added various support bags, a tripod, etc. One recommendation is to use quality ammo if you are looking for good results. There are plenty of videos on youtube showing you the difference between using cheap ammo vs. match ammo...

Positional support bag, like Armageddon Gear Schmedium or Mini Game Changer.
Dedicated rear support bag, like Rifles Only "Brick."
Sling...not just a carry strap. I use and really like Rifles Only Carbine model for my 22.

You will love the rifle. I have the Steel version and a buddy has the CF version. They both shoot great. Like said above. Quality ammo. mine like CCI Standard, CCI Tactical, SK Rifle Match (Red Box), SK Long Range ( Tan Box ), SK Standard (Yellow Box). Mine shoots all of these great. SK Red is what mine truly shoots the best.

Go to a match or 2 and see what the others are using. Most will gladly let you borrow for match shooting.
Magpul MS1 or MS4 QD Sling works great.
Area 419 14" Area Rail Kit.
Wiebad Fortune Cookie, Minnie Cookie or Micro Cookie are all great. I have the Mini and plan to order a Micro. " Put your name on it "
Couple of spare magazines. " Mark them in some shape form or fashion to know they are yours."

Enjoy shooting. The NRL22 Matches are great and great people to help you out with anything. I have had more fun since October 2020 shooting Rimfire than the last 4 years prior. There is a new hope for the gun world with the people involved in the NRL22 Series.

Congratulations on your new rifle. IMO the B-14R is a fantastic choice and one to build on without feeling like you are wasting money.

A couple of things I'd recommend considering that hasn't been mentioned yet are a different trigger and swept bolt handle. I have two B-14R's and neither trigger was satisfying for me. My preference is the Bix TacSport PRO. I prefer a swept bolt handle as it just feels better to me. Anarchy Outdoors makes a great one for the B-14R.

I picked up the rifle this evening. One thing seems out of whack... it’s a steel barrel.
This was my first ffl transfer from Gunbroker, any suggestions? I am ok with a steel barrel, but should I see if the seller will throw in a couple magazines or a sling? The Msrp is about $95 less than the Carbon version. I rechecked the auction and it definitely says carbon...

I would be contacting them ASAP and get what your suppose to get. The S# they transferred and the rifle S# better match. Does the rifle match the box?

The seller gave me the choice between a swap for a new carbon barrel version or a $100 refund- I took the cash... in the end I think I will want the weight out front, and that reduces the ancillary costs like the rail. In the end I am very happy with the solution.

Good deal Fritz... You won't be disappointed in that rifle. The marginal added weight is nice. I still think mine needs a little more weight out front. You also won't be as concerned if you do hit the barrel on a barricade in NRL22 matches.

Happy shooting.

This has played out like a comedy of errors. I ordered a $90 (with shipping) US made rail which was shipped 7 days after I ordered it, I got it today (Fast USPS) without the screws... I called, the person I spoke with said to email them to get the screws (which are explicitly called out as included with the item on their site). Hopefully I will get them before next weekend...
It makes me wonder why I bother to look for small business to support, in retrospect a $17 Amazon Leupold 20moa rail without a bubble would have been a better choice- I would have had it last week and I wouldn’t have to run down the parts needed to make my rifle usable.
Perhaps I should start lowering my expectations... I’m also thinking that the request for google reviews as soon as a delivery is made (especially in this situation) is probably not a smart move.

Not all of us small business owners do biz like that.

Plus, the 7 day shipping may not have been the sellers fault.

And the missing screws....not all plastic packaging are heat sealed. I can’t count the times I have had missing small parts in plastic snap container packing from the factory.
