Yeah . I was an early riser and the neighbors weren't to impressed with the seven am sonic boom .
How about video games? Remember back in the day when all you had to do is pop in the game cartridge or disc and hit the power button and boom, you were actually playing the game? Just look how fucked up modern games are now. You turn on your system and you're lucky if you're playing the game within 15-20 minutes from all the annoying updates that have to be installed not only for the system OS, but also for the game itself! And even then when you're playing the game, it's not guaranteed to stay working because if there's a slight hiccup in your internet connection, the game will quit on you and claim a connection error.
I loved those days. I had my Man From UNCLE gun and Veer played with his Ken doll and his Pop N Fresh magic oven. Those were the days !!
Video games back in my day. At .25 a play they were too expensive for me to play.
Damn, that thing looks like a recoilless rifle! I would have loved that. My favorite growing up was a used LAW rocket tube. Pulling that thing open and having the sights spring up was the shit. None of the other kids could compete with that. I also mounted my battery operated M1919 on my red wagon for quick and easy positioning. For personal weapons I had a miniature M1903 made from real wood that had a working bolt and my nickle plated cowboy cap pistol. That all faded away when I got my pellet rifle and was able to actually hit targets. Yeah, those were the days!
I remember buying a miniature jet engine for something like $2.99 from the back of a magazine or comic when I was a kid. It was basically a C02 cartridge that had been stuffed with a wick that you filled with gasoline and it had a exhaust tube made of sheet metal maybe 1/2" in diameter held on by wires.
It actually kinda worked. I wonder how we ever lived through our childhoods? When you try to shield kids from danger you weaken them. Educate them, don't insulate them.

If someone is looking for something fun to do with their kids, help them build and launch model rockets. They can be had from very easy to build to difficult. Hobby Lobby has them if you have one nearby. Fun and helps build skills.

We had serious battles with these that usually ended up with someone getting hurt (by a fist or other body part connecting). I miss them.
Or the metal bombs that you stuffed with as many caps as possible and dropped or threw down in front of someone.

Chemistry sets! I've still got a scar from molten sulfur that dripped onto my finger when I was probably 10. And then there were the carbon arc torches made from D-cell battery electrodes, lead sinkers and salt water rheostats.
These days someone would call the law on this kid.

Not so. I remember flushing one of these down a service station toilet. Went off before we cleared the door. Then there was the Cherry Bomb that went int ethe outhouse while the old black lady was sitting on the pot. Im evil.
Homemade flashpowder was way more interesting.
We made some good shit out of Aluminum dust and Potassium Permanganate.
Mailman dropped this off as a free sample one day . That thing was indestructable .
