Gunsmithing Badger Knob install - know anyone in KY?

Gentlemen,

Do you happen to know of a gunsmith that is potentially located near Lexington,KY or potentially in-state that can take a Remington 700 bolt handle and install a Badger Tactical Bold Knob? Thank you for your assistance and recommendations.

Note: I already have the Knob I purchased, so I am hoping that I can get it done for around $65-$70 with a reinforcement process in case their is a hollow cavity.

Sell the badger knob and have monteboy84 here on the hide install a tac ops knob for you. It will probably only cost you a few more dollars than having the badger knob installed and is much stronger and he cerakotes the whole bolt when he is done.

I just sent off an email to Mark @ Short Action to see what his turnaround time could be. I really hate to ship the bolt off, hate to risk chancing it with UPS or FedEx if I can avoid it. Otherwise, will have to hit the hub to get it shipped properly so they don't flag and confiscate.

If you end up having to ship it, just send it in a small usps priority mail flat rate box. Wrap the bolt in lots of padding material and tape the box up well and you shouldn't have any problems. I've sent lots of bolts this way, with no problems at all.

if any of you guys know anyone that has access to a mill they could probably handle the task its super easy. I have done it to every rifle i own.

+1 to what hunter said. Free advice and worth every penny. I had a badger knob first. install wasnt bad, but theres no way to really do what you are asking the way you want done.

The best bet is to sell the badger knob and buy a tacops kit from monteboy84 or see if he will credit you for your knob and trade out. send it to him, his fee's are very reasonable, and his turn around time is very quick. the reinforcing for voids, welding the post on, and the look of the knob are exactly what you are trying to do.

I had a badger knob installed, and my bolt is at Monteboy's shop right now. I saw his work in person, looked at my bolt, and sent it to him the following week. Again, this is free advice, but if you take this advice you will be a happy guy.

i hate to send you to a different site, but snipercentral.com sells them in their store and has pics. outwardly i believe the tacops knob to be almost identical.

also, i dont have the link, but if you to the advanced search on here, theres a threat where he posted a ton of pics that shows his process start to finish. if you find that thread on here, you'll get a great look at before during and after. you wont be disappointed.

Superior Tactical outside of Owensboro can do it. His work is nice, but takes a little time.

There's of course also the option of installing it yourself... It comes with some pretty basic instructions, but it's very doable. I did it a few days ago and it took me 2 hours max. I'd never installed one before and had no issues. Just a thought.

Does he still do these? I've PM'ed and emailed but haven't got a response yet. Im sure he's likely super busy or maybe on summer vacation, just didn't want to be waiting around if he wasn't doing them anymore.
