I've got a brand new M2008 action with .308 bolt face that's been in my safe for two years now. And I need another 308/260 rifle like I need a case of herpes. I just finished up building a 7mm saum and am enthralled with the short action magnums. I called Badger and they will sell me a new bolt, if/when they have them. I couldn't even order one as they said just call back in two months. I know what that means in this market……………... So could it be just as simple as removing the ejector/extractor, then indicating the bolt in my lathe and opening up the diameter? I'm on the newer side of smithing, but I have chambered a handful of rifles so far with excellent results. But this is something I have no experience with. Or if this is a very tricky operation left to the seasoned professionals, who would be willing to take such a job? Thanks in advance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Badger uses a variant of the M16 style extractor.

The location of the extractor from center of the bolt body is important as it determines whether it can lip over the case or jam it in the arse. When your going bigger your going to have to address this.

My shop is next door to where the Badger actions are manufactured. 2 months out may not be as far fetched as you think. The owners just bought two rather spendy pieces of equipment. Full palletized horozontals that will make some chips like no one's bidness'.

Al was running receiver blanks a couple weeks ago.

You might get lucky.

Just buy a complete magnum bolt from Marty. I ordered one to go along with the .473" M2013. Marty said the wsm bolt would come a couple months after the action, and it did.

The 2013 bolt drops right into the 2008 action, and is a better part.

That's essentially what I want to do, is buy a complete magnum bolt face bolt for my action. He said call back in two months:)
