So maybe the hide can help me solve a little magazine quandry, so I don't have to bug my favorite gun builder (GAP). I have a GAP non-typical 300WSM with a Badger M5 DBM. The rifle came from GAP with a single detachable box mag. I went to buy an extra mag and have yet to be able to find the exact one the gun came with.
The magazine that shipped from GAP had a blank floor plate, meaning the floor plate is void of any manufacturer identification. This magazine also has an internal diameter length of roughly 2.970 in length. I contacted SWFA for a replacement and they sent me an AI labeled magazine, specifically it is labeled with AI on the bottom floor plate of the magazine. THe problem is, the AI mag has an internal diameter length of 2.900. Sadly, this is just to short to feed my 2.950 COAL rounds that my GAP happens to love. I proceeded to call SWFA and they said this is the exact part number from Badger. So I then emailed Badger and they confirmed Badger specifically just uses AI branded magazines. Badger suggested I contact GAP to find out the specific manufacturer of the DBM they included on my rifle.
In an attempt to not bother my favorite gun builder during this huge run on guns, I thought I would reach out to the hide and see if someone could point me to the magazine manufacture that makes the magazine GAP shipped my rifle with.
Attached is a picture of what I am talking about. The top mag is the mag that came with the rifle from GAP. You can see, this magazine lacks an extra piece of reinforcing steel at the front of the mag, whereas the AI mag on the bottom, has this extra piece of steel, which is why the internal overall length is .070 shorter.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction as to who sells the magazine on top, so I can buy a few. THanks all
