OK, picking up a 5R in the next few days and I want to get all my goodies ordered. It will be a remington 5R with a badger 20MOA base, badger rings and a 56mm NXS. Can I do med rings or do I need high?

Before I get yelled at I did try the search button. All I could find was info for a 50mm bell.

I can't help with the Badgers but I'm running Burris XTR mediums with an EGW 20 MOA base on my 700 with a 56mm NF and even with the bikini caps on, I have a lot of room.

I'll include a couple photos for reference. Hopefully it helps.

With the caveat that the 20 MOA base may not be exactly the same as yours, I tried using a Badger medium (0.885") one-piece mount with a NF 8-32x56 on a GAP Crusader with a 20 MOA base. This mount is the same height as the Badger medium two-piece ring sets and was definitely too low to mount the 56mm scope. Ultimately, I went with the Badger high (1.125") two-piece alloy ring set. Based on the bell clearance from the barrel using the 1.125" ring set, the med/high (1.000") would have also worked, but those only come in steel, and I wanted the alloy rings.

I'd go medium .885. I had a set on a sps tactical with a 56mm NF and they fit even with butler creek caps. The 5R should have about the same contour.
