Badger Ordnance Picatinny-Style 30mm Max-50 Rings VS. Leupold 30mm QRW Quick-Release Weaver-Style Rings. Need some opinions and comets on these two rings before I spend the money.

Agreed!! Whar application are the rings gonna be used for?

Re: Badger VS. Leupold

Why aren't we comparing like items (leupold mark 4 rings vs badger rings)? I have both the leupold qrw in 1" and 30mm. I also have the badger std 4 screw setup as well as the 6 screw max-50 setup both in their std height. I don't have the mark 4 so I can not comment on those rings but would assume they are comparable to the badger rings. What exactly are you going to mount the rings on? What application is the rifle for (safe queen display show off piece, hunting, casual range rifle work, competition (tactical or benchrest), tactical law enforcement work)?

<span style="font-weight: bold">The badger max-50 rings:</span>

pros:
1) extremely rugged, probably the most rugged
2) used in conjunction with a high quality mount (seekins, badger, farrell) will not need to lap rings
3) zero point of shift removing and reinstalling when used in conjunction with quality mounts and torqued to the milspec 65 in-lb
4) these rings are heavy (a good thing if you want them heavy)
5) these are rated 50 cal tough

cons:
1) must use a socket wrench or pliers to install or remove rings
2) these rings are heavy (bad if you do not want them heavy)
3) designed for picatinny so may not work with weaver mounts

<span style="font-weight: bold">Leupold QRW rings</span>

pros:
1) leupold 1/2" guarantee repeatability at 100 yards when removing and installing the rings
2) rings can be installed without the socket wrench or pliers because of quick release levers
3) smaller footprint compared to the badger (much better looking for hunting rifles--does not have the tactical robust look)
4) lighter, good if you want that for your rifle setup
5) will work with weaver and picatinny mounts

cons:
1) these rings are light (bad if you want heavy rings)
2) not as rugged as the badger rings
3) is not zero point of shift when reinstalling the rings to the mounts after removal
4) not as tacticool as the badgers (if that matters for you)

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Badger VS. Leupold

I’m putting them on a tac 338 ultra service weapon. But I would like to use that scope for a competing bench rife as well. So I’m not worried about the back to zero factor. Reliably and precision is the most important .

BO the winner by KO!

Re: Badger VS. Leupold

They aren't even in the same league and you can't even begin to compare. Each have their place and perform well for what they are intended.

Maybe next time choose two items more "equal" to compare. Like maybe Badger Ordnance standard rings and the latest version of Leupolds Mk4 rings.

my .02¢

Ok, you will use your scope on a service weapon and you stated that reliability and precision is most important, than Badger all the way foryou. While you are at it make sure your base is high quality (ie. badger, seekins, farrell, maybe the mark 4). I would also recommend that they be 1 piece bases.
