Ball powder suggestion for 7.62 x 54R?

Hey guys,

I've been using Varget extensively since we started handloading five months ago. Works well for our .223, .308, and 7.62 x 54R calibers.

But...
Being a stick powder, it doesn't meter very consistently in my powder drop, particularly in the larger calibers. It'll usually throw with .2 for the .223 which is close enough for me- but I get variances of over .5 with the larger calibers which doesn't cut it. I tried H335 for the .223, and while it metered perfectly, the gun just doesn't like it, so I'm going to stick with Varget for it.

Any suggestions for a ball powder, that's not temp sensitive, that can be used with .308 and 7.62 x 54R with bullets in the 175 class would be appreciated. There's just so many out there some "first hand" knowledge is helpful.

W748 or TAC. IMHO, they are all temp sensitive, some more than others. W748 is, TAC may be.

+1. W 748 is an excellent powder meters well but is temp sensitive. I use it exclusively in 223 but keep loads in the moderate range.
