Ok guys, i decided bite the bullet and get a suppressor. On May 8 i sent up my packet and i received the return receipt that the BATF got my packet about 10 days later. A few weeks later i received my uncancelled check in a BATF envelope with nothing else in the envelop explaining anything. It has taken me since then to get someone to return my call and help me answer that mystery. The BATF is claiming that my packet has been lost and that is that. So is there any other actions i can take here or is that that? No responsibility on the part of the government, just have to accept it and tolerate it?

Yes...get with your dealer for another set of form 4's and just send everything else back in. I doubt it was intentional but ya never know. Just resubmit.

Yea, i wish! It just pisses me off that there is no accountability. And these people that work there seem to think we are inconveniencing them, never mind that if it wasn't for us they wouldn't have a job!

Not the case with my examiner. There is one lady that checks status as well who is very nice. The whole system pretty much sucks though.

Correct, this is what i was told happened. And they claim the bank lost it. They told me that i mailed it to the bank first and that is why it was lost, which i did not. They also told me that the lost packets have been a common issue as of late. Regardless, there is no accountability which is unacceptable.

Meaning his Form 4s, check, certificate of compliance and copy of the trust (if he used one). Which address did you send it to? It should go to the Atlanta address if you are sending in a Form 4. All the updated forms have the address you should send it to on the top right hand of the form in bold.
There are some dealers that still have old forms which has the Chicago address. From my experience that is what cause the most problems.

Luckily, the examiner didn't reject it, she sent my dealer a form requesting a new copy of the trust. This was at the end of the process and she allowed me to send it directly to her. I had my stamp 2 weeks later. I'm sure with the volume of forms going in there will be mistakes made. Its the government, what can you expect?

At least it's just for a toy and is merely aggravating.
Imagine if it was for your work visa to remain in the US and you weren't told that they had "lost it" until 2 weeks before the old visa expired and their response was little more than "You did everything right. We screwed up. Too bad, get out!"

OK, if you did not mail it to the bank first as you say. Where DID you mail your packet?

How would you have mailed it to the bank first? Do you have the banks address? If so did you address it as ATF bank?

it could be a lot worse. They could have cashed the check and you would have waited and waited until one day you get bored and call for status only to find out that they didn't have a record for your Form 4. Lots of time wasted on that scenario. This way you fill out new Form 4's and you have not lost too much time. Working with NFA items is a recipe for patience - learn it or live with the headaches.
