Gunsmithing Bedding a Badger action in an AICS stock

I'm thinking about skim bedding the lug areas, not that is has to be done, but I can't imagine it hurting anything and could help for sure.

I would think this is the simplest way.

1 - drill a few tiny holes for the bedding to create a mechanical lock into in the rear, bottom, front of lug areas.
2 - Scuff up the rest of the lug areas
3 - Degrease, clean up said areas
4 - Release agent on action
5 - Skim bed as normal, maybe tighten action screws to 15-20 inch pounds or so? Action would have the barrel off when I did this to make it as stress free as possible.

Anyone see any issues in doing this?

That's the thing, I don't know if it shoots, was planning on doing the bedding while it was still in pieces so I don't have to take it all apart again later.

Yes, easy to glue in LOL... but if I was going that route, I would just degrease both sides, rough the stock and apply enough bedding material to fill any voids. I think the idea is that the stock/action become one unit, you see it a bunch on competition guns because it makes everything stiffer, but on a tactical the desire to be able to take down and fix the rifle in a field situation dictates just bedded, not glued...

I wasn't aware that the AIAW was glued as I haven't played with one. If they are using a trigger hanger, then it may not be a big deal? I would hate to try and deal with a trigger issue in the field if my aciton was glued in and I couldn't readily remove it. Outside of that, I think that most everything else could be resolved with the action glued in?

Good question! Thinkin about doin the same with mine but how would you scuff up the lug area? I guess a plasma cutter would do the job.... Let me try that on your first and if it worked i'll try it on mine! I just can't see why a person has to bed with this combo since everything is so teight.

I hope you know that they are talking about scuffing up the lug area on the STOCK and NOT the Action!

Good idea Jasonk! One of my fellow drivers drove through Big Lake today and told him to keep an eye out for Bauer's place. T-shirts + 1. Big Lake??? Buddy said it's more like a mud puddle!
