I know I read some where that on the single shot Mod 12 the rear tang should be free floated just as you would the barrel. What are your thoughts on this and why would it help?

Reason I ask is I just had one bedded and I went from horizonal stringing to vetical stringing. Group size is about the same at 400 yards it just changed shape. Donald

If it is the solid action single shot, I can't see why floating the tang would help. If it is a stress free bedding job, the tang on the solid bottom action should make no difference.

Well I went and remove the bedding from under the tang and about an inch from the barrel. Should have only done one at a time. The groups are nice and round now so I'm not sure which made the difference. There's still about 2 inches of bedding under the barrel so it's got plenty of glass in front. Donald
