I have a Marlin 917vr .17 hmr with synthetic stock and Rifle Basix trigger. If I bed the action, will I still be able to service the rifle if trigger parts go or anything like that? Also, I need to remove the stock in order to adjust the trigger.

You will be able to remove the action from the bedding... IF you do it right and apply enough release agent BEFORE mixing the compound. There are several threads on this here. Some even have photos to show you what to do. Research it more before you do anything.

Cool. I used to make custom spoilers for cars, so I'm very familiar with molds, different types of epoxies, and release agents. One of the reasons I am interested in doing it. I'll definitely look into it more. I just want to be able to service the rifle if I need to.

im currently looking up some bedding threads here as well, I have a new Mcmillan A4 stock with the adj,butt spacer system, adj cheek piece and aluminum pillars and have a G A Precision rebarrel job coming. I justdont want to make a disaster of it so im searching all the info here as i can find to do it properly.

Things I normally do when doing an action bedding in a stock:
I usually do pillar bedding with aluminum pillars and counter bore the stock so it gets a healthy amount of Devcon to hold it in place.
I look over the stock and mask off everything on the outside that I don't want to dribble epoxy all over. The same thing would be advisable on the trigger of the rifle. If you ARE pillar bedding, don't forget to do everything on the bottom metal that you do to the receiver.
Use modeling clay and fill in all the holes and indentations where the Devcon may lock it in.
VERY IMPORTANT ***** Release agent. I am pretty fond of KIWI neutral shoe polish wax. I do a coat on everything I don't want the Devcon to stick to. Let it dry to a white glaze then buff it off. Do it again and leave the glaze on.
If you have taped everything off and got a good coat of release agent ON EVERYTHING you're ready to start.
After putting the Devcon where it needs to be, I start assemblying the rifle. I normally pull the stock screws up pretty tight. But I don't torque them. If you feel the screws bottom out on the pillars, that's good.
Let it set for at least 8 hours before attempting to clean up any mess. I usually let them set at least 24 hours before trying to break them loose.
I can't say this enough !!!! Read everything you can on this before you start. Practice everything several times. Mix up very small amounts of whatever epoxy you choose to use and let it set to make sure you are understanding the mix ratios correctly. I usually let it set overnight with a tongue depressor or small wire stuck in it so I can pull and twist on it. Mask off everything you don't want glued in place or dribbled over. Use plenty of modeling clay to fill in the low spots and screw holes. If you don't do this right you'll have what benchresters call a "glue in". Don't get in a hurry and overlook anything. Being in a hurry or clouded frame of mind can almost gaurantee a less than perfect job.

Thanks for the info, Its greatly appreciated. Im really paranoid of screwing up, so im looking for all the help i can get, I know its not rocket science, but i still want to learn how to do it properly so i can do it on my other rifles correctly as well
