Bedding: Quad in an A5

Can any of you experts out there suggest a bedding method for this combo? I ordered with pillars.

It's a heavy barrel 17HMR with aftermarket bottom metal.

I'm far from an expert, but I will be bedding mine next. It has been shooing well and now I have enough info to know if the bedding makes any difference.

Thanks for your response. What stock are you using? Pillars?

On another note, as you have apparently developed an accuracy baseline, have you found that you can play with headspace a bit by manipulating the barrel as you tighten the barrel fixing screw? I am new to mine and while tinkering with it - taking it apart and such, it dawned on me when I couldn't close the bolt that I had put it together to tightly. The good news might be that I can put it together with just the right headspace if I am careful.

In the above instance, I reassembled it while pulling on the barrel and perhaps left too much headspace. My first trip to the range yielded pretty poor results. Accuracy wasn't near what the previous owner had reported. It wasn't near what my Lilja barreled Ruger would do either.

No torque spec for the barrel fixing screw? Maybe I should just come up with something myself and stick to it for consistency purposes.

Thoughts?

I am using a manners t4. It has a metal recoil type lug on the back of the action just like the factory stock had.

I usually put a spent case in the chamber when I reinstall the barrel and close the bolt and put slight rearward pressure the barrel as I tighten the bolt. I also learned that you can put it on too tight where it wouldn't close on a case.

I just tighten it down. I have never really checked the actual torque I apply, but I am pretty consistent.
