Anyone shot the Berger VLD 70s (.224s) in a 1-9in twist bolt gun with 20in barrel? If so did they do better than say the 69gn SMK?

I have a 700 rem compact tactical with 1&9 twist and 20" barrel.
I have shot the 69 gr with varget and h335. I have 2 boxes of berger 70gr sitting on the shelf.
I have been meaning to try. I'll load a ladder and try for next week. I'll let you know.

I am running them out of a 24” R700 5r factory rifle. The load I settled on was 23.5 grains of H4895 seated between.007-.011 off the lands, I don’t have my notes with me but IIRC that puts me in the mid 2900’s. Are they better than 69’s??? That depends. They handle the wind better and require a little less elevation. Fortunately the POI difference between them and my 69g load is .2 mils so I use 69’s for most of my shooting inside 400 yards then switch if going longer.
That said, I tried them in my 223 R700 tactical which has a longer throat and was unable to find a good seating depth to get them under.75 moa consistently...

I should have stated my question a little better. How does the VLD compare at ranges beyond 300-400 yards?

With it's higher BC it shoots a little flatter and drifts less in the same wind than the 69smk... so it is easier to hit targets the farther you go out, its a good bullet.
