Today Sniper's Hide went behind the scenes of a Barrett video shoot here in Colorado. We were lucky enough to get an invite to see the production of a new Barrett video and we are bringing you some of the images from that shoot.

Would love to see a US manufacturer give Remington a run for their money--keeps everyone honest. Hopefully, some of this will trickle down to us "small" people.

They will have to work a lot harder then they are, if they want to run with Remington.

It wasn't a live fire shoot, they did that when I wasn't there earlier in the month. However it is competing for the PSR trials and is making .6" 5 shot groups well under the requirement.

The rifle as show is 338LM, but can change calibers very similar to the Desert Tactical and as required by the PSR contract.

It's a pretty shit hot gun, there is a variant of its origin at RO, but hopefully we'll get to play with the PSR submission this fall for a bit of T&E.

Everyone I know who has shot has been very impressed and word on the street is Remington is nervous as they should be.

SSSSWEET! The only thing I don't get on this riflr or the Remington is that the stock folds over the bolt. Wouldn't it make more sense for the stock to fold to the opposite side of the bolt?

Perhaps its just there to lock the bolt in, so when you sling it over your back it doesnt snag on anything and open. Since it's a precision rifle any time you went to use it you'd certainly be able to take the 3 seconds to unfold the stock.

Add to that, (and correct me if im wrong), but wouldnt most snipers using it carry at least a pistol or something, which would probably have better accuracy than trying to fire this thing one-handed.

The stock folds over the bolt specifically to hold it in place. Most are heading in that direction.

...it's also to give a flat surface against your body when slung. A few miles with a bolt handle or the edge of a folded stock section digging into your side/front/back and you will understand. Makes sense to fold over bolt handle and then carry that side out.

I tested the .338 and .300 WM at my ranch west of Murfreesboro last year for Ronnie and Kyle it has a few nice spin offs from the 98B.

Do my eyes deceive me or does the MSAR's top rail have a built-in slope?

ETA: I always wondered how in the heck I'd fit a PVS-27 or similar on the short top rail of my 98B (if I ever took the plunge into NV optics)... Looks like Barrett fixed that issue.

Last question, besides accuracy standards what is there really to test? Not like reliability is going to be an issue. I guess they are going to test usage and changing of calibers.

Regardless of who wins (we all have our favorites) the PSR contract, the folks at the tip of the spear are getting an improvement over what they have right now.

I saw this rifle at the SHOT show this year. Very impressive. They're also making a tactical bolt style rifle with some pretty impressive groupings at 200 meters. I wont post what they claim because it was hard to believe myself and I didnt see any test targets.
