The trend is to SRP in the Creedmoor rounds, obviously the Lapua rounds benefit from it as well. Is there a reason it hasn't caught on in the 260 yet? I can only find Alpha Munitions as the maker of SRP 260. I have the Nucleus action and a PVA barrel coming for JAE chassis. This is my first rifle of this qulaity level - would it be worth it to sell off Lapua 260 brass and replace w/ Alpha? How does Alpha compare to Lapua?

The benefit is in casing durability with hot loads and SOME powders will produce lower es/SD with SRP...I wouldn't sell my Lapua unless I had to run really hot (which you don't usually need to do in a .260).

And LRP Lapua doesn't exactly have a poor record of service life.

I have run both LRP brass from RP and Lapua and neither had any bit of accuracy problems. If you are set on SRP brass Peterson's Brass also has SRP 260 brass. I will likely stick with Lapua as stated above it has a great service life.

I used Alpha 260 brass, and Lapua in my 260 last year. I was getting 2910fps to 2930fps from a 26 inch barrel. No reason to try to go faster.
Which brass did you prefer? Was there much of a velocity spread difference between the two? How many reloads have you gotten out of each?

I prefered the Alpha. It was in stock and they rush shipped it when I really needed it. Whoever runs the place is a pretty decent dude.

I had case neck donuts with necked down Lapua that caused a problem with deviations. That went away with Alpha but that might be because I switched to two step sizing. I size down with a die and set neck tension with a mandrel.

The velocity spread wasn't much difference. I loaded 43.1 grains of H4350 when the barrel was new with Lapua and got 2930fps. When I took the barrel off, Alpha was at 2910fps with the same charge, and a good bit cooler weather.

I never reached the end of case life on the Alpha. I haven't even trimmed it yet, and I have about 5 loadings on it. The biggest problem is losing cases at matches.
