Benelli M1S90 minus barrel

Okay so I've had my M3 up on the for sale boards for a little bit now- got some bites but I'm having a really hard time parting with it. I have an addiction to all things Benelli (it is my third Benelli shotgun).

Anyway- to make matters worse... I have the opportunity to buy an M1S90 Tactical minus the barrel which is brand new (they have no idea where the barrel went). What do you guys think is a fair price for an M1S90 without a barrel? It's got ghost ring sights, standard stock with sling loop in each side.

My big issue is finding a barrel- can't find one new for under $480, and it seems they are rather difficult to find used and not beat to hell.

So lets hear what you think, what's it worth, would you pick it up if you were me? I have room to barter on it I believe.

Benelli barrels are hard as hell to find, I would think if you could get what they have for about $350 then you might be able to be patient and get a barrel for cheap.

$250-300 tops. The barrels are not cheap and harder to find at a fair price. The hassle alone warrants a lower price. I love my M2 and might have it for sale soon. Tuned & tricked by Triangle Shooting Sports.

If you can find one, a new M1S90 is running around $900 to $1000. Is the box and manual available? Is it an HK marked and imported weapon? I guess, it all boils down to what it's worth to you if you want to keep it.

Well, it's got all original packaging. They think what might have happened is a few years ago someone loaned a department the barrel and they never got it back, lost track of who has it and now they are just stuck with a gun minus barrel. I don't believe it's HK marked- it's not that old.

I had sort of figured $250-$300 myself, but I wanted to see what some people thought before I mentioned what I thought.

I picked up an M1S90 slug gun in 05 for $750 on clearance from gander mountain. My figure is, if I have to lay out $400+ for a barrel, that amount should be removed from the tag I paid on the slug gun and I'm left with the price on the receiver. Comes out to between $250 and $280 depending on what barrel I put on it

On a side note, does anyone know if a comfortech stock from an M2 can be put on an M1? Seems like it would work

It might work and FWIW, the going rate for a M1S90 is about $650-800. For $900-1000, I'd just go buy an M2. I have both and will tell you my M1 sits in the safe more than my M2.

Reason for asking about the stock is in reference to my M1S90 slug gun- I think a comfortech stock would be a hell of an improvement, especially since you can adjust LOP and cheek height

It will work with some dremeling on the stock where the trigger guard goes. And the M2 receiver is a little different so you will have to do some work there also.

Time and energy wise, just get an M2.

Whats the difference between the M1 and M2 other than stocks/grips? I thought they were basicly the same?

Gander mountain near me has one m1s90 on the used shelf for ~850. i thought it was a ridiculous rice like all the rest of their prices, but it looks super nice. is that a good deal?

My m2 has way more sharp edges and more plastic parts. I refer the m1 to the m2 but both shoot great. Also the m2 is drilled and tapped for a scope mount.

If you never hadled them side by side you probably wouldnt notice much difference. The thing I really like on the m1 is the aluminum trigger group as compared to the plastic m2 guard. For what they cost it should be aluminum.

Basically, they're the same.

On the M1, it's "purely" recoil operated and jams can easily occur if you soft shoulder the gun. Keep it tucked in fairly tight and you're fine.

On the M2, with the goofy chevrons in the stock, it definitely cuts down on the felt recoil, but whatever they did, you can get sloppy with your placement in/on your shoulder and functions flawless.

After 2 1100's, and 11-87, a M1 and my current M2, the only other shotgun I'd use for an all around gun is a FN SLP. That thing is sweet and gobbles everything. Price is fair too.

$800-1k is annoying to pay for a "shotgun", but that's only if you think if it as "just" a shotgun.
