Suppressors Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

Well the first two major differences are, the SBE2 is 3.5" and the Vinci is 3". I would personally never buy another SBE2 after owning two of them, primarily for ducks. There are much better shotguns out there for far less money than the Benelli. Benelli is over priced and over rated in my opinion. I am personally looking more into Beretta and in some cases Browning.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

SBE2's are junk. SBE 1's were tough.
I have used them(been around them) extensively, I have seen them not fire from the factory.I have seen multiple guns have to go back multiple times. Never seen one with the but plate still on it. If you plan on shooting anything lighter than a 3 1/2in loads it will be a great single shot.

I would look at the Beretta. I have had great luck with the 391's and like models. The older gas Franchi was the toughest thing I have ever seen. it was model 612.

Don't get caught up in the advertisements.
Keep in mind I have a skeet range and have seen many SBE2's fail there and in the duck blind.
I will say some of the 20ga Benelli's have done well.

This is my opinion based on a lot of field use. Take it for what it is worth.
Good luck.

Now, I do not condone Benelli and there outrageous map pricing. As stated above, I just sold all my SBE2's and have switched to Beretta. But to claim the SBE2 is a single shot with anything les than a 3.5? Seen many fail? Come one now, I know they are not worth there price, but lets face it, they are reliable auto loaders, Im calling bullshit on your many experiences. I am a avid duck hunter and hunt with a LOT of guys and they all seem to shoot SBE2's. Over rated and over priced? Yes, junk? Not by any stretch of the moon. You sound like every other hard charger who claims he knows first hand about shotguns, but your allegations are silly and not true.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

Glock and Roll,
Dont take it wrong, but I own a skeet range , have drug shotguns around in my airboats and the marsh just like you. I used to guide hunts when I was in college. This is the opinion I have formed. For you to say it is not true is a little over the top.

I know how it is to be a duck hunter, we are hell on shit and chase them hard. The SBE will not play that game covered in mud in the bottom of an airboat or on a skeet range.

I think they are absolute shit. the old ones with the HK stamp were great, never seen one fail.

I cant help but question your experience as a duck hunter or shot gunner if you have not seen them fail.

I don't want to argue I was offering my experiences and opinion.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

Wow, I did not realize the track record with the SBEII. Holy cow, something more to investigate. You guys are great with feedback like this.

I've been using a 870 for a long time, and was thinking possible moving to an auto more for ducks and what not.

Which Beretta would you recommend ? They seem to be similarly priced. I could care less about grade of wood, what not since this one will get banged up pretty good.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I own an SBE2 and it is a smooth shotgun and I like the fit and finish. However, I seldom use it. I have hunted/guided on TV for several years and had many friends/clients that had problems with their SBE2's.

Think about this. You put forth the time, money, and effort to go hunting and right when you get into that great hunt your weapon malfunctions. Everyone else is hammering down and you are stuck with a single shot. A $1,300 dollar single shot.

I am not an engineer so I can not comment on any detailed mechanical failure or design. What I do have is my field based data and what I have observed in the field. I am not biased, obviously I own one. My only advice would be to determine the field conditions in which you will be using the gun and if they are less than perfect don't risk it.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

i have had nothing but great experience with the SBE1,from upland to sea ducks in 0 degree wind howling ice pellets flying.it has shucked everything from light targets to the 3.5 heavys. they come up used here so if time is on your side i would wait to get one.(saw a factory camo one go awhile back for 700).and i thought i was missing out on the SBE2? their little 20ga looks intresting

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

Alot of the avid hunters I know and respect use either the SBE (original), Brownings, or both. Benellis are damn fine shotguns, I own 2 myself. New ones are pricey, but deals can be had if you're patient.

As for the Vinci I just can't get past the fact that it looks ugly as hell.

Obviously you are going with a Benelli. Consider what kind of load(s) you will be using and buy accordingly.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I've got a Vinci. Love it. That being said, I can't justify keeping it.

If you want to talk about it in depth, I've pmed you my phone number. Functioning has been flawless, and I like this the best over all the benelli's I've owned and shot (m1, m2, m4, SBE1, SBE2). I'm just having a hard time owning 3 $1k+ shotguns.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I do not care for the SBE2, but to say that they are horrible shotguns is ludicrous! They are one of, if not the most prominent shotguns in the duck blind right now. Like I said before I have owned 2 of them and just sold the last one. I do not care for them at all anymore, but I didnt have any major issues with either one of them. I have seen at least a half dozen of them in the field over the recent years and none of them had issues other than the recoil pad falling off, which was fixed. I had an occasional malfunction, but I dont know of any shotgun that will perform 100% at all times, in all condition...It just isnt going to happen. With that being said they should perform almost all of the time in all conditions. I am switching to Beretta's, just personal preference, I think they offer more gun for the money.

Question my experience? I am not even going to feed the fire, as I have nothing to prove to you over the internet.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

i have a sbe2 as do 2 buds i duck/goose/upland/coyote/sheet/clays shoot with . i have over 4k though mine , buddies prolly have 2k-3k . i get a fte about every 7-8 boxes of cheap walmat trap shells. none with game loads . i love it and would buy it another . it has been used as a canoe paddle ,been on the bottom of several salt marsh lakes , hunted in every kind of foul weather . my only comlaint is the ugly trigger guard . i dont think the sbe 2 is much more $ than the win sx3 or bretta extrema ?

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I own a M1 and a SBEII. My M1 has a Surefire and all the toys and runs like a champ but it stays in the safe most of the time. The BE2 has never failed me and I've never done anything but shoot it and abuse it.

I bought my SBEII after my roommate told me about his experiences selling shotguns here in Wyoming. He said that in his experience people were far and away happier with those than other similar shotguns.

I can't tell you that I own my own range, or that I've guided hunts, but I can tell you mine works every single time. I can also tell you that its soon to have a friend in safe that says Benelli M4 on the side.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I've not had any failures with my SBE 2. I do agree, it's not a pretty gun, but who cares, it gets the job done and the victims don't care about looks.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I had my SBEII that i just recently sold for about 4 years and it was a great gun..I used it on many duck and goose hunts in Nebraska as well as many coyote and turkey hunts.. Just like most guns you would get the occasional FTE but only after about using cheap ammo at the trap range ..I would buy anothe with no hesitation...

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I used my SBE1 on a dove hunt in Argentina in 2007 while my dad used his SBE2. Both went through 4000 rds. of garbage S. American ammo w/o incident (FTE or stoppage of any kind). They were dirty as hell, but they preformed flawlessly.

I seem to remember the Vincci having only a 3" chamber while the SBE1 and 2's have a Magnum, or 3.5", chamber.

I don't know if that spec enters into your decision at all.

Re: Benelli Vinci or SBEII ?

I have a SBE2 and it runs great. It has got pretty dirty, wet and frozen at times and still runs fine. I also run it with 3 dram reloads plinking ammo and it runs fine. I rarely use 3.5 ammo in it, mainly 3.0 and 2.75.

Hell, I am going to shot sporting clays with it this weekend.

I glued in the recoil pad just to be sure and I also welded up the lifter to keep from pulling out my thumbnail.

As far as the Vinci, "Never fly the A model."

I have a Browning Gold that I use for Sportsmans Team Challenge and really like it a lot.
