Hi all
I have a Bergara LRP in 6.5 CM
This action has worked very well for over 2500 rds at which point I had it rebarreled by a very good local builder (he builds a lot of PRS style rifles). Put a HawkHill M24 and shoots .3 MOA all day long. However after about 300 rds have been having light primer strikes. Reloads and factory. It’s not the ammo bc I’d drop it in another 3 rifles and it would fire. I did change the trigger from a Timney 517 to a Calvin Elite two stage and same issue (I am aware of the potential short sear issues). I was thinking mayb if I change the firing spring to a heavier one. Does anyone know if the Bergara LRP firing pin spring is similar to Remington (compatible)? If not any other manufacturer type that may work? I would like to try that before sending the whole barreled action back.
For the record I did contact Bergara and they were very responsive and professional but told me they didn’t send/sell the spring or firing pin group and that I would need to send the action/rifle for inspection/repairs.
Thx

I would disassemble the bolt and inspect the rifling pin spring and all components.
Atleast then you should be able to verify if the spring is damaged or you have an issue with corrosion causing a problem.
That way the next time you contact Bergara you are better prepared to discuss your path forward and it would be a much better option to only ship the bolt assembly if possible.

I looked at it and no corruption, we live in the SW. All components look ok. It's strange that it started to happen out of the blue, almost like the spring has weakened or something (I'm not sure this makes sense). I am sure as hell don't want to send the barrel action that would be a pain

Not sure how helpful Bergara would be in a technical aspect since I've never had to deal with them but it couldn't hurt to ask what the springs OAL should be in an uncompressed state, the spring sounds like it has taken a set and is weakened now.

Worth a shot I guess if you actually get to talk to someone that knows anything other than how to answer a phone and give the preprogrammed resonses.
