There’s a good possibility I will have the chance to go to sniper school this coming spring. I currently run an LMT MWS 308. Through the military and civilian side I’ve always ran AR rifles but the Bergara Ridgeback has caught my eye.

Other than a slight increases in Velocity, accuracy, and ease of use of the suppressor. what advantages will I get with the bolt action over my Lmt.

Accuracy and range. I take it Sniper School refers to actual Military (Army or Marine) training. As a former USASS Instructor, and having a LMT MWS 16" barrel, the Remington 700 is far better. The M110 is slightly after my time, but it comparable. I've shot mine out to 650m easy and could prob get out to 800 or better. I've shot the M24 out to 1150 consistently. Newer M2010 300WM will extend that out to 1200m and greater. Problem is that the Army School will need to cut trees to get past 1100m on their UKD range. The only other thing you will get with the LMT is the ability to put 20 rounds down range in a fraction of the time at closer targets. Snipers=long range; spotters=oh shit they are almost on us...
