I recently picked up a few boxes of the Berger 6.5cm 140hybrids, the box is showing 2850fps, I’m curious how close I can expect to get to the velocity. 24” proof barrel

Only a chronograph can tell you that.... Or DOPE out to distance.

I’m right at 2850 with my hand loads with the 140 hybrids. Lapua brass, CCI 450’s and 42.7 H4350.

picked up 300 rounds of these factory Berger 140’s last year as I mainly just wanted the brass. Shot them at a couple of matches and they were right at 2805. Still shot, grouped and chronoed extremely well. Actually was the best factory ammo I’ve ever shot.

You're probably gonna be 2850-2875.

My factory Tikka 24" is a "slow barrel" and shoots them at 2800.

Im right at 2850 with 140 Hyrbids out of 4+ 6.5x47L 27" barrels (Krieger, Bartlein and Rock Creek Cut).. If you dont get there in 6.5cm, you wont be too far off. Dont worry about speed, Ill take accuracy over speed any day. Just dial your dope..

Thanks! Not worried so much about speed as I was looking to see down range energy.

What is your ogive or COAL?

I am running into issues with a similar load, but I am using federal 210Ms, not CCIs.

Only getting 2620 with 41.5 of H4350s. My COAL is 2.860.

My JP LRP pushes them nice and easy at 2675 with 41.5 grs H4350 and half moa. Out to 1200 it's worked fine. I haven't even bothered with finding a higher node.

Finally got my 24" 6.5 creedmoor barrel screwed back on to test the few boxes of Berger ammo with the the 140's as well as some of my reloads.

Only shot 3 of the factory berger as I want to save the rest for my trip to the longer range. 2789 avg which I'm thrilled with for factory ammo. The 6 creedmoor berger ammo I had was quite slow compared to what most would load to.

For my handloads I'm also using the 140 hybirds
Peterson LRP with 210m
41.2gr H4350
COAL-2.86
Avg vel- 2770

chrono and true as close to transonic as you can, usually between 900 and 1000 yards is what I found to be the best place to true velocity.

I'm really looking forward to hopefully finding these in stock again this year. Buddy had amazing success with them at a mile and for the price geez I'm in.

Try Bullet Central. Git mine last week. They took a long trip around the country with UPS but I finally got them. Looking forward to some good weather to test them.

The 140 Berger’s are the best “factory” ammo I’ve shot. I was seeing 2820 in a 26” proof SS barrel.

This load matched the factory load in my barrel: lapua brass, CCI 450, 42.5 H4350, and CBTO 2.130”.
