Best 308 MOA out of the box for your $$$$$

Re: Best 308 MOA out of the box for your $$$$$

5R. Suprisingly accurate, and consistant. 1/2-3/4 moa out of the box. Now bedded by APA, its a solid 1/3 MOA very repeatable and consistantly so out to 600 yds. It gets better around the 800 rd mark.

The TRG is "out of the box" and I have not seen one that shot worse than the best Savage or Remington.
I was not trying to assault Savage, as I know there are many of you who love their versatility and inexpensive prices. BTW, the OP did not specify what his max price range for a rifle. I know you may never spend the $2600 a TRG costs these days but there are many on here who are glad they did.

Hi i would look at the 5R.

The reason is the shitty stocks on the SPS range are just crap and sorry mate those plastic stocks on savages are also crap they twist and bend everywhere and they do not consistantly shoot i also think the actions and barrels ont he Tikkas are great but they also have crappy plastic stocks. now the best thing for a tikka is the Manners stocks then they make a hell of a rifle but this is an out of the box rifle we are talking about.

If you have the funds for a Sako TRG then go for it but if your funds are limited the Remington 5R is realy hard to beat it has a stable stiff stock and good barrel and action with an adjustable trigger if you buy one you will be happy i have only heard great things about the 5R.

Tikka T3 Scout
Savage heavy barreled .308 rifles - (i.e. 10 FCP HS Precision)
Remington 5R - though there have been some unhappy 5R owners lately

You can get a savage 10fcp in an hs precision, McMillan, or choate tactical stock...

I bought the choate model at cabelas for $700, dbm, trigger is crisp and at a 1 1/2 lb pull. She shoots well, I've gotten enough under 1/2moa groups to tell me she outshoots me, my norm is .6-.7.

You also have the model 12 long range precision with an hs precision stock and the target accutrigger.

So, talking about the hs stock on the remmy like it is the only maker with better out of the box options, is misleading.

Winchester has models in b&c stocks, as does weatherby...and so on.
