I'm new to reloading and was wanting to start reloading for both my Winchester modle 70 30-06 and model 70 300 WSM. Both have 1-10" twist barrels, standard contour. I'll be shooting 180 gr nosler silvertips and 185 Berger hunting VLD's out of them. I have bullets, brass, dies and primers, I'm just wanting some info for powder. Prefer to get a good powder that would work on both chamberings to minimize buying various powders etc. Any info would be great, so far I've seen Reloaders-17 seems to be talked about between both chamberings.
Thanks Billy

I seem to always come back to H4350. I try others powders only cause I have them, but if I was just going to stick with one and work with what you have then H4350 is my answer. Good luck!!

Id have to lean towards H4350 or RE19, H4350 works great for 180s in the 06 and RE19 works great for 180s in the 300WSM, but H4350 should work very well in the WSM, also.

Re: Best all around powder for 300 WSM and 30-06

For myself I've been using the RL-17.
Shooting the Hornady A-Max 208gr. with 62.5 gr.s I get 2992 fps.
I am shooting a Savage Model 16 Bear, which has a 23" barrel.
With 6 shots I am able to achive sub. MOAs (.625).
Overall loaded round is 2.9840", about .002 off riflings.
Hope this helps you some!

P.S.
For myself I haven't had much luck with the H4350, best was about 2790 fps.
All info was chronographed.
Hope that helps!

I prefer H4350 or H4831.

RL powders will get better velocities, but the temp sensativity drives me nuts.

62.6grs of H4350 worked decent for me, tried IMR4831 also. Pushing 180gr accubonds @ 2900FPS is where my rifle like to be. Its a Howa action with a 24" Shilen 1:10 barrel I put together. Anything faster then 2900FPS groups opened.
