Rifle Scopes Best glass for $1k?

I strongly disagree with that statement. I’ve compared a SIII heads up to an ARES BTR, and while the ARES had more features and a more useable reticle for tactical matches, the SIII had better glass.

This is what I thought, the OP asked about best glass for this price there have been many recommendations of vortex, Athlon etc and I think a lot of these people are including the features and reticles etc in their advice. Id like to ask again on a glass vs glass $ v $ comparison can anyone without bias or vested interest show a scope that will beat a sightron siii glass for $900?? My reading leads me to believe that there isn't but who knows??

I think everyone is missing the op’s requirements and getting into a pissing match on opinions.
Op specifically states 24x minimum!
Not a single scope in that list of 16 or so is anywhere near 24. The Bushys are 21 I believe.

So other than the Sightron or a used Cronus, I don’t think anyone has answered his question.
A sub $1000 with min 24x is going to be shit. There is now way around it . Since OP clearly doesn't understand what he is asking for, those who do understand are providing some better and wise advice. Instead of dumping bad money after bad...buy something that will not be shit.

$1000 +/- is not the same as $1000-$1400.

It's also disingenuous to suggest optics that can only be found used with the deal of the century.
Someone will pipe up and say they got a Gen 2 Razor for $1200, because it happens once in a blue moon doesn't mean you can pretend that's how much they all go for.

Recommending used optics is a goof thing, but using that to write off certain optics Asian crap is a load of bollocks.
Also bear in mind that you can't often find exactly what you want on the used market and some folk aren't able to wait 6 months for the next killer deal checking buy/sell pages every 5 minutes.
They aren't deals of the century, just post a wtb add and you will get flooded with offers here. And yea, those non Jap Asian optics are crap. There is really nothing more to it.

Several years ago I bought a Minox 6-30x56 scope for under $800.

It's pretty decent except the focus goes soft when the magnification is pushed over about 25x.

That deal is long gone and the scope doesn't have a ton of internal adjustment so nothing to recommend there but it's not crap.

He just needs to expand his search a bit and then compare all of the options.

If you can go a little lower on the magnification you can pick up a Tract Toric for a little over 1k. It is a Japanese made LOW optic and is a phenomenal value. I bought one last summer and was so impressed with it I bought another 3 weeks later. I have some high end scopes that cost over twice as much and the Toric hangs right with them optically and with its features. It has fantastic locking turrets, daylight bright illumination and they just added the Christmas tree reticle. I have another one on my shopping list in the near future. I also have an Athlon Ares ETR and it is a really nice optic. It has higher magnification and a 34mm tube but personally I think the Tract is in a whole different class.

A few of the Cronus BTRs in the PX right now. After beating the hell out of mine for over a year now, I put it on a tracking device and it still tracks perfectly. I think (highly subjective) the glass is amazing for the price. Just make sure you are adjusting your parallax accordingly when you shoot.
