Best mobile multimedia player?

So, I’m considering heading back up to fish alaska again. This would be two 28 day trips at sea. A total of around 60 days since we would have a couple down days between trips.

What is the best way to watch tv shows and movies? I’ll b sharing a stateroom so it would need to be able to use headphones and mount by my bunk.

The last time I used a iPad, but it’s come a long way since then.

So what else should I be looking at?

You can record any show that is streamed. It will not do live streaming. I have hundreds of movies/shows/youtube videos recorded. You can then load them on to what ever device you like. or stream them to your TV from your PC in your house.

A mount would be for watching movies when I want to get away from the other guys. Plus when we’re fishing 24/7 there is constantly changing sounds. Hydraulics kicking on and off, electric motors running, people getting up and going to bed at different times. Pretty much sleep in pair of noise canceling headphones with a movie playing. I had a RAM Mount for my last iPad where I just needed to screw the one ball mount to the wall. I’d be hoping for something similar or the same.

Does that playon work being offline for 2 months? I’m sure the internet is slow as hell and probably hard to get in Dutch Harbor between offloads.

Yes, once you down load it, it is yours. You have a hard copy. It does put a disclaimer at the front of the video, with your name and date of recording to prevent distribution. You have to have a subscription to something like netfilx. It uses your account to record what you want. I have tons of gun related videos from youtube. Most the movies I have are from netflix or amazon video. I don't have HBO so I have paid for the entire Game of thrones show through Amazon. I own them and can watch them anywhere (with internet) through Amazon. But I don't trust Amazon to not get hacked and loose my "purchases" so I have them download to my hard drive also. I can watch them anywhere without internet now. Hard drives are cheap now. I have 4TB storage and not even close to 1TB yet. I have all the Breaking Bad episodes also, Just in case Netflix drops the show.

Any laptop with a huge internal or external hard drive preferably a SSD type down load all the movies they can take.
