I just had a new 27 3/4" barrel placed on my Rem 700 in AI stock, 7.5 twist to shoot the 115g. dtac, I am getting between about 2,950 fps using 46g. of Reloader 25 or 42g. of H4350, is one one these two powders better than the other for accuracy and/or throat wear? Is it better to use more of the slower RL-25 or to use less H3580 to acieve similar velocity? Rifle shot both of these in similar groups as break-in progressed to allowed for 3 and 5 round groups this weekend. Appreciate any suggestions, thanks

I prefer Hodgdon 4350 for my 243 with DTACs. I'm considering H1000 and vv560 to gain some additional speed as well.

The rumor mill says that the slower powders burn cooler therefore extending barrel life. I've read no conclusive data that proves that theory yet, but it seems to make sense. I just doubt that it makes a significant difference.

I prefer H1000 in my .243. It shot quite a bit faster than H4350 did and held better accuracy than Re25. To be fair, I haven't tried H4831sc or Re22 or Re17. I think any of the above could show potential in the .243.

I shoot Rl'25, but I'm scared its gonna be a bit temp. sensitive and may switch over to H1000 for deer season. I think Rl.25 should give a little more barrel life as it burns a little cooler. But ALOT of people shoot H4350 with great success. If you want to test a few powders try Re17, Re22,Re25, H4350, H100v, 4831sc, or H1000.

r-25. I've shot it in 100+ heat with no trouble running 47.3 and BN Coated DTACS. As allways work up to it, and don't run anything that is allready showing you pressure signs.

Thanks to all of you, sometimes there really are a lot of great options, I'll experiment and see what the rifle likes to 1k,

Try some of Hodgdon's Hybrid 100. Its kind of a middle of the road powder that is between H4350 & H1000. I like it!

That was the same as me. I first tried H4350, then Re25, then H1000. I had planned on trying H4831sc and maybe H100v, but stopped short once I had good results with H1000.
