Best range finder for under 300$?

Like the title states, whats the best range finder for under 300$? Dont need extreme long range. Would like to be able to range steel at 1000 +/-
durability and light are priorities as well

My brother has one of the lower end vortex and likes it. Don't know how far he's used it but I think it's rated to 1500 so you might get 1k on a plate
