I am looking to put a new barrel on my DPMS pattern .308. Does anyone have any experience with the Black Hole Weaponry barrel? I am specifically looking at the 18" with rifle length gas system

I just ordered one last night to build a new 18" precision AR to replace the one I just sold. It was an impulse buy because I saw they were offering 20% off for shot show and I figured why not find out for myself. I googled the living sh*t out of this place last night and didn't really find any data.

I think the 20% may be good through Monday.

Sad thing is HCS has the Douglas Mark 12 barrels in stock which are well within the $500 I had left over in the budget for the barrel. I'm still debating whether or not to get a 16" Recce barrel from them and just build two uppers which is likely what is going to happen.

Another budget blown.

CriagM63........ BUMP!

I am looking for exactly the same thing 18in Rifle Gas DPMS pattern, I am strongly leaning toward Fulton Armory's 18.5in Criterion barrel as they will sell you bolt or BCG and head space the two. I have not read anything really that negative about either company. I just like to have a headspaced barrel. I did have a BHW 6x45 barrel and it was fantastic. Sold it to go to 6.8 though.

PM me man and let me know what you decide.

I have been looking at the Fulton Armory barrels as well. I also have contact info of a gentleman that Frank White at Compass Lake Engineering put me in touch with to build a barrel out of a Douglas blank. I am kind of at a loss here. I am not happy with the barrel I chose for this rifle and should have known that "cheap" was going to cost me more in the long run.

I got a 6.5 grendel barrel from bhw that I thought was bad but it turned out to be a receiver issue. The barrel now shoots .5 - .75. Before I found out my receiver was way out of spec I had been speaking with bhw through email and their cs was great. They agreed to fix or replace the barrel if things didn't improve for me. Also check out Rainer arms barrels they usually turn out well.

Exactly what was out of spec with your receiver?
I agree that BHW customer service is great. But I had an issue with noncentric chambers which couldn't satisfy me or my gunsmith so I moved on after three attempts and inspecting a couple off the shelf.

I was having accuracy problems with my original receiver. I bedded the barrel in it I had the front of it trued. The last thing I noticed was where on the left side of the receiver and no where on the right side this was from the bolt carrier group. My guess is that the inside dimension of the receiver was not true with the barrel housing.I changed it to another receiver my groups shrunk by half.

Besides the fact that theyve got an uber douche on their "pro staff" who likes to act like he knows everything they make decent barrels. Not top tier by any means but decent if you find them on sale. Id get a rainier or mega before bhw.
